David Thunder Cummings Announces
Retirement
After 22 years as a professional athlete David Thunder
Cummings has informed us that it is time to hang up the gloves for good.
The years of competing have been
very good to many but the injuries are mounting up and he does not feel he can
keep competing on the World level.
"I must say in reflecting upon my career, I had much more fortune in the first 15-17 years but my love for the sport kept me going and motivated." Said Cummings. "I have had a very long and fortunate career having the ability to travel and compete in 43 countries. I shared the ring with some of the best our sport has known and won World and International Titles with WKA, ISKA, IKBO, USMTA, IMTA, WKC, WKBA and KICK."
Cumming's final record is 145-44-2 and he has competed from Bantomweight to Cruiserweight. Here is a list of some of the fighters he has had the privilege to compete with: Makote Ohe, Rikki Onedero, Kenjiro Tatsum, Takashi Murahama, Saekson Janjira, Sakasam Fairtex, Bunkerd Fairtex, Rungrich O' Smith, Victor Solier, Wim Nuyens, John Orchard, Robert Coquette, Sankasit Khanenstit, Bowy Chawaikan, Dida Diafat, Abel El Quandili, Khalid el Quandili, Sebastion Farina, Rick Kilmer and Kanat Yurinoff.
"Thank you to all of those who have supported me over
the years and to my great trainers: Bill Packer, Tommy Williams, Ray
McCallum, Mike Bell and Dick Woods. I plan to stay involved in the
sport helping the new generation of fighters by training athletes and sharing my
overseas contacts to get more exposure to American talent overseas. My next trip
is to take Fernando Calleros to fight George Pattison for the
WKC Welterweight World Title."
Respectfully,
David Thunder Cummings.
