DIVISIONS WITH NO REGISTERED FIGHTERS
WILL CLOSE UPON FIRST DEADLINE

This rule was established some time ago for two main reasons.

• AWARDS
  • We do not want to be left without enough awards for everyone at any IKF Tournament. So for this reason, we need to have plenty of time to make sure we have ALL the Awards for EVERY fighter done by the time we depart here for the Tournament which is the weekend PRIOR to the Tournament. Because of this, we can't wait to see who joins "LATE" into a division that has went vacant up until 1 month prior to the Tournament. If no fighters have joined a division by the first deadline, that division is CLOSED.
    
    
• EQUAL COMPETITION
  • Few things bother us more than fielding a division with less than 4 fighters. We believe EVERY DIVISION should have a minimum of 4 fighters to have good quality competition, after all, this is a WORLD Championship Tournament.
    • Worse yet is a division with only two fighters who are both 0-0. This is OK if these fighters had no where to move to, to make a 4 fighter bracket, but if they simply refuse to move because they only want to fight once, this is not admirable.
      • And finally, we have the other reason for the Division Closing rule here. Not saying that you or your fighter would do the following, but believe it or not, some have. Which forced us to create this rule. Some fighters believe if they enter a division without anyone in it, close to the final deadline, that they will win by forfeit if no one else registers. When they didn't in the past, and were asked to move to another division, they would make a major fuss claiming they deserved the belt, even if they had no one to fight. As many know, we do our best to avoid Walkover Champions. However, there are cases where we have had them. (See Below) However, to avoid one thinking they will win their title because they are the only fighter in their bracket and they don't want to move divisions to find competition, we close vacant divisions upon first deadline.

WALKOVER CHAMPIONS
There will be NO WALKOVER CHAMPIONS. "HOWEVER", IF You are confirmed with a scheduled opponent BEFORE the weigh-in date of the Finals Tournament and your opponent doesn't show up for some reason at the official weigh-ins of the Finals Tournament, you will be awarded the title by walkover if there are no other opponents in your division. If this happens, you are also allowed at this time to switch rule styles or weight divisions so you can at least have a fight, and a chance at winning "2" Tournament Titles.
