Just wondering who won stevie wonder...I mean Randy Pogue's title in CA?
:)

I listened to the interview on pro karate weekly and both Schwartz and Battone seemed like cool guys. Ryan Madigan called in and said they were holding on to his title, so the plot thickens!

Bottone got beat in a 12 round unanimous decision. That was about what I expected.

this was a world title fight? one word explains this bout,

BOARING!

you didn't miss anything Randy and neither did you guys ikf. you were ok by pulling out of this one. these two put on the most boaring bout i believe i have ever seen! i took time off work and made a special trip just to go see the bout rather than listen to others comments here, and i must say, i'd like my money back! this was not the schwartz i expected. tommy just sat there and did nothing. neither pressed the fight, both either gave too much respect to the other or were just SCARED!

You have A right to your opinion of the fight as a paying fan.

I congradulate Brian schwartz on sticking to his game plan of keeping me at bay for the fight with his side kick which I tried in many ways to get thru taking many risk . Proof is that I got dropped 2 times doing so in the 3rd and 4 th rds.I never gave up trying to make it into a fight. I really did not get close until the 10 th rd of the 12 rd fight.

I was unable to get him to stand and fight which was the only way i was going to get the knock out which i was trying to get. I in no way was trying to win a decission in his hometown . I knew what i needed to do and my game plan did not work and his did so he won.

He deserves credit for the win .He showed very good composure for someone who has not had that many fights and kept doing what he had to do to win.

Believe me this is not how I wanted the fight to unfold but we do not always get what we want.

I have always had a hard time with very tall opponents not to mention A southpaw that was 6"3 and my losses to Brian and to Erik Regan have proved my problem with these very tall oppononts in full contact rules fights.

If you have ever seen some of my fights I always try to make it into a fight and am always trying not to leave it to the judges.

This time the others guys plan workes and I take my hat off to him.

I will do my best to learn from this fight.

respect to you tommy for your reply. i just wanted to see more from you two. it seemed like you were both staying away from each other. i wanted to see you guys go at it and bang away, which i felt never really happened. good luck in the next bout. ;)

Thanks,

Believe me I wanted to bang and was unable to get him into that kind of fight.

He did a great job of keeping me away with his side kick.( My entire left side of my hip is very bruised from attempting to pass that side kick all night) This may have not been as exciting A match for the crowd or for me but it was what he had to do to win and he did it well.

I think he deserves alot of credit for sticking to his game plan no matter what happened in the fight. This is what makes great champions.

I regret that I was unable to make him fight my fight . I will do my best to learn from my mistakes. I really hate lossing but we can not win them all. I guess I am lucky to have won way more than I have lost and that I have not been hurt too badly in my career.

One day I hope to learn how to beat these much taller than normall opponents .I worked very hard to get it right this time but I guess it is back to the drawing board.

Tommy,
Kudos for fighting and the great attitude!
You mentioned his side kick, but how were his hands?
Any other fights scheduled?
thanks!

Thanks Jason, it is odd that I did not mention his hands as the 2 times that he rocked me where with punches . It was really due to me trying to avoid the long sidekick and walking into his left hand as he is a southpaw with great reach.I took me some time to see where his left was coming from.

His hands are fair and his legs are very good with his height 6"3 it made it very difficult to get close to him.

I was at the fight is that what you call full contact both of you did nothing but throw side kicks at each other. I would like to know the total # of side kicks thrown by both of you per round never seen so many in one night in my life. The ones battone kept throwing looked pathetic Schwartz should of just walked threw you, he was giving you to much respect either that or he wanted to punish you for 12 rounds.Schwartz tried to take you out with his hands but every time Schwartz came at you you went flying backwards 10 steps like you were trying to escape from him if the ring did not have ropes you would have been in the parking LOT. It looked like sparing for Schwartz.

That if you where frustrated with the fight.

I was more frustrated than you as I could not get past his side kick. I tried in many ways and failed.

I was unhappy with the way the fight played out. It was my intention to get him into A fight before the end of the match but as you said he would kick me away . Those shots that pushed me away did not land clean but pushed me away whenever I was getting close to attempt to fight my fight.

He caught me with A couple of good shots and I recovered to fight.

People say why he did not finish me, It is not as easy as that. I have never finished A fight on the canvas in my entire career.

Brian being 6"3 and left handed made it very difficult for me to close the gap on him. I had A few game plans which none worked .When I tried to just fight and throw out my game plan is when I got caught.

It was very difficult for me to get any combinations off without him throwing side kicks and moving. I do not use my side kick to push A guy away but to do damage and place him where I can get combinations off. This obviuosly did not work or many oither things which I attempted. I could not get near him until the 10 th rd.

It was definatley not the way I wanted to fight but he stuck to his game plan and his game plan worked.

I hope to learn from this defeat as I could not fight my fight at all in this match and it bothers me plenty.

I give him credit and congradulate him on his victory.

All I was trying to say was I thought you threw just as many side kicks as he did only he landed. I would just like to know the total # per round and what percent landed. Like in boxing. And no matter what any one says 12 rds with Schwartz is no easy task you are definately durable.

I am not sure how many side kicks either of us threw but as you said it was alot.

It is true that I missed alot of kicks as I has a hard time closing the gap on him.

His kicks where mostly blocked as I was trying very hard to close the gap.

I rarely threw kicks that where blocked. I missed alot due to his height difference and when I finally got close in the later rounds I began landing some hard kicks.

He has a very good side kick which was hard for me to get around to get off combinations. He was using the side kick to keep me away and I was to using an agressive side kick. Both are very hard kicks in which we are both very good at. we both have good defence for those kicks.

When you said that my side kick was " pathetic " I am not sure Brian or any one who has ever fought me would agree with that.

My problem was not being able to close the gap and trow combinations . His side kick which I was blocking most of them was keeping me at bay which was his plan and it worked very good.
