After many pulled out with excuse for not fighting Wonderboy Thompson, a fighter from the maritimes called Eric Boudreau took the 5 round bout on short notice. This kid of 195 lb had an amateur kickboxing record of 22-0 with most wins by KO and was trained by my brother Jean Yves Theriault years ago. He has a 3-0 Kickboxing record and did a few Boxing bouts. He is a strong hitter but got beat up trying boxing but will be a real test for Wonderboy Thompson, even if he took the fight at the last minute.
I know Eric well and he is a solid test for Stephen and I suggest anybody living in Vermont or around Montreal to call for tickets at 514 234-0376 to see a great fight next teusday the 14 of Dec at the Medley.
As Wonderboys Canadian promoter,I could not have found a better test to show everyone that there is a new kickboxing King in Town, The wonderboy Stephen Thompson. I already signed a fight for him on next Apex MMA show in a special attraction bout and hope to kick-start the sport of Kickboxing in Montreal with him and his younger brother. Lets hope he can pass this tuff test called Eric Boudreau. Tickets at www.infoticketpro.com

I'll be doing the main event on Dec 14 vs. MMA Quebec fighter Serge Lafond and will certainly be tempted to have a look at the Boudreau/Thompson fight. This will be a great test for Stephen if Eric has good last minute endurance. He was to be the next Therrieault when he turned to boxing about 5 years ago.

Should be a great night of action with 7 pro fights. I will enjoy a nice victory at my first local fight in almost 4 years.

Hi Vic. Good luck to the Canadian fighter, but I really want to see Wonderboy emerge as the best of today. Congrats to Stephen for taking on an opponent with such a good record and trained by the "True Legend" Jean Yves Theriault..."The Iceman".

If it’s the same Eric Boudreault whose boxing record I found on Boxrec, I don’t know whether he really got beaten up trying boxing. That Eric Boudreault fought from 1998 to 2003, he has a boxing record of 5-1-0 / 3 and his only defeat was on points against a guy he had defeated by TKO before. It's probably the same because he is a cruiserweight too and he fought two of his fights in Halifax, NS.
For those interested, the link is http://www.boxrec.com/boxer_display.php?boxer_id=051915.
It seems it's going to be a big test for the Wonderboy but, if he constantly moves like he can do, even a guy with a pro boxing experience will have trouble hitting him without being hit before.
P.S. for Raoul Doucet : Raoul, bonne chance pour ton combat. « Passe-lui le K-O » comme vous dites dans la Belle Province. Dommage que je ne puisse pas être là.

Good luck Stephen! Stay focused - fight your fight... and don't give this guy a chance to lay a hand (or foot) on you!

Thank you Jean-Luc, the Montreal kick boxing fans including several friends of mine are going to finally see what the Axeman and Wonderboy are made of.

Atlanta was NOT a true representation of what I can do!!!

Looking forward to seeing both Stephen Thompson and Raoul Doucet compete on Tuesday on what should be an action packed card. Vic has told me great things about both guys and I'm excited to finally see them live and hopefully on a future APEX event.

Stephen, Raoul, I wish you both the best for tonight. Raoul, I'm sure you will prove that Atlanta was an accident : I saw you in Los Angeles and in Greenville and you are a great fighter as well as a really nice guy and a true gentleman.
Stephen, Eric Boudreau seems to be a real test for you but remember that Lemmens, for instance, was an enormously bigger one : on the paper, with his skills and experience, he was so much better than you that very few would have bet a penny on your chances. Yet, you won in great fashion and you are even much better today than you were 15 months ago. I am sure you can and you will do it once again. Just fight like you did against Jardine, Lemmens, Engel and Kadir, to name just a few, and I have no doubt you will show the Canadians that there is a new young star in the sport.
I really wish I could be there to encourage and cheer you both, I hoped to the last moment that it would be possible but, unfortunately, man proposes and job disposes.
See you both soon.
Jean-Luc
