I just talked to Kevin Hudson and got an update from the World Championships in Switzerland. Dallas Crowe fought this morning and lost a close decision to a fighter from the Ukraine. Nelson Lebron lost his first fight. ( I don't know where the guy was from) Shannon Hudson won his first fight over a fighter from Germany. Now get this later that day he got disqualified! After Shannon's first fight he check the bout list and he was not listed to fight until tommorrow. So he went to the hotel to get some rest. Later on that day they called Shannon to fight. Peyton Russell heard them make the final call for Shannon and disqualify him. Awhile later Shannon comes back and Peyton tells him the news. Shannon protests to IAKSA and they decided to allow Shannon to continue if the Russian coach agreed. The Russian coach refused to let Shannon fight so the DQ stood. I guess he should have stayed in the building despite the bout list. Live and learn.

How many US fighters remain in the tournament?

Shannon is done he has been disqualified. It is a single elimination tournament. I don't know how many Americans are left. Shannon said that there are close to 2000 competitors and they have 17rings set up. It is a mad house.

What types of competitions are they having, point, full contact, continous, etc?

Ronnie,
This is not to bag on Shannon but 2000 fighters and 17 rings?
I got word today from some people we know in Europe who are at this event.
There is NO WAY there is anywhere near 2,000 fighters there. Also, of the ones that are there, over half are doing semi contact fights.
I will get someone to post here that can give as a true accurate count of the fighters there so you won't just get this from me.
Sorry to hear about Shannon. That's just WRONG what they did to him.

Admin,
Don't shoot the messenger my friend. Please understand I don't care if their is 1 ring and ten competitors. My goal was only to give news on our guys in Europe. I am sure 2000 is counting the continuous and point fighters. I will be more precise in my answers in the future so to alarm anyone. If Shannon counted 17 rings I believe it. The two orgs have combined so it is Muay thai, kickboxing, full contact, continuous and point all together. Shannon, Dallas and Nelson are kicking back now watching the fights and looking forward to the K-1 event at the end of the tournament.

They should be back this Sunday. That is alot of time to get into trouble. ESPECIALLY for that crew! I wish I was there. :D

Nah you need to get used to staying home. You will be a married man soon and the leash will be short and tight so you need not put yourself through the torture of "wishing" you were somewhere else.

Hi Ronnie,
Didn't mean to appear as if I was taking a shot at you. Big apology here...
Surly there will be a lot of countries since it's in Europe where the countries are much smaller as compared to here in North America. The issue here is what these guys did to Shannon. Again, that is just wrong! Any word on how he reacted to this?
Are there any other fighters from usa still in the comp? I tried to see what was up on the iaska site -www.iaksa.com- but it's down. I next tried to see what wka had on it, but there was nothing there about what is going on, just a basic ad about the event. WKA's ad says:
Points Fighting ~ Forms ~ Light Contact
Kickboxing ~ Full Contact ~ Thai Boxing
Expected 3500 competitors from 5 continents

They said this before, but the actual numbers were not even half. However, adding or teaming up with IASKA and with all the karate divisions will bring their numbers up and quite possibly over 2,000.

There is a list of the divisions at this event at:

Shannon was correct on the rings. There "ARE" 17 rings, but not all are actual boxing rings. Most are tapped off floor rings. Here is a layout of the event:

The K-1 Event after this should be cool. Something for all the fighters and trainers to go to. Looking at all the info, this event sounds AWESOME! They will be having the K-1 event, amateur world championships, seminars, exhibitions, lectures and free trainings (martial art days). We need to put something like this together here in the USA. Imagine the organizational efforts this event takes.

Hats off to IASKA and WKA for their efforts. I wish I was there to see it all. Hopefully the fighters will have some great stories for us, other than the bad one that happened to Shannon.

Imagine those guys with craig over there... it would be an international incident.
Oh, and for whatever reason, Craig is still having problems posting on the board here. I spoke to our web guy today and hopefully he can help him tomorrow. Not sure what buttons you pushed Craig, but you pushed one the rest of us didn't....

OUCH! A Walkover DQ! That call I must say was a load of crap to be honest. If you are not scheduled to fight, then you would have no reasonable expectation of being required to fight that day. That would be like expecting me to stay home all day on my days off in case my boss called and wanted me to work. Its simply not reasonable without prior advance notice that you MAY be required to fight.

There are only 3 USA full contact rule fighters. Shannon, Dallas and Nelson. I am sure they will have some stories. Peyton Russell is there acting as a coach.

If he was there no one would get any play. The entire country would be BLOCKED!

Since the Battle of Atlanta I have been thinking the same thing. The Europeans have the right idea. They do the big events with point fighting, Muay Thai, Full contact, musical forms, weapons, continuous contact and so on. Like the Battle of Atlanta of old they had a big kickboxing card after the karate tournament. Us kickboxers sometimes look down on point and continuous guys but the sport started there. If we could have an event like this in the USA it would be great. We would draw fighters form the karate guys who wanted to try it and of course fans.
