If I fight at an event and they sell beer, is there any rule that says I can't drink beer in between rounds?
I am over 21, and it is for sale.
Is there a rule?

thanks

I don't think there is a rule, but it definitely brings up an intelligence issue I have had with you for a loooonnngggg time. ;) Seriously, when I went to the Toughman Finals in 2001, there were guys fighting that were drinking a beer and smoking a cigarette as they were called up to the ring to fight. Needless to say, they lost.

I think they only lost in toughman because they were also smoking. If it was just drinking beer, I think they would win.
Everyone knows beer makes you better at everything.
People even look better when you drink.

So true. And if we could get one of those Camelback Hydration Systems, that we could wear unobtrusively on our backs, and fill it with beer- MAN! it doesn't get any better than that!!! That way no one gets hurt while fighting, and we get to drink while we are fighting. And the ref, the judges, the girls all get better looking. Cool, huh?

Gentlemen,

I am not sure if you guys are serious, but though it sounds funny, drinking beer before an event you are on or during an event you are fighting on (untill you've been cleared by the MD) is dangerous.

As to the rules, IKF has no SPECIFIC rule on it for fighters, other than it would be consdered gross unsportsmanlike conduct, and you would probably get banned for it.

In regulating states, it is punishable by disqualification to drink anything but pure water between rounds (pre-approved sports drinks, inspected prior to fight by commission may be allowed in some states).

Any fighter caught drinking beer prior to or during his fight if I'm the ref will be disqualified, the beer will be confiscated, and I shall consume said beer promptly after completion of my duties as an official.

OT,
If they inspect my fluids I will have to buy some scentless vodka, that way they won't know I will be getting my drink on during the fight.
Do you think it will work?

Yes, it is a joke.
