Hey,
I am just curious if any kickboxers also tried kicking in football. Any success? Is it hard to kick a field goal? Punt? Kickoff. The reason I ask is that it seems with Gary Anderson being signed by TN at age 45 that kickboxers would have an advantage in leg strength dexterity etc to make an attempt at it. I have never tried kicking a football, so I don't know.
thanks

I have and about one out of ten tries it actually goes straight. On that one straight kick it travels pretty far. :D

Different style of kicking than martial arts. That's why former soccer players dominate. With the salaries the NFL pays its place kickers (200K) I'm sure some former kickboxers would be up for the challenge, but the technique is very different. The closest style of kicking would be a Muay Thai whip down.

Jason,
I was actually a field goal kicker and punter in highschool football many years ago. Believe me, just like golf or tennis, it`s all technique that matters and then the strength helps as well.

If Steve can even kick a 45 yarder today he should come out of retirement and go pro. Teams need him.
