Two greats have fallen today. First, Today Ronnie "Kid" Copeland has fallen to wedding bells and is now married to the new Mrs. Stacie Copeland. Females all across the land are crying there poor little eyes out (ok, yeah right) and second, Ricardo Mayorga was SCHOOLED by Felix "Tito" Trinidad tonight. Mayorga, up until tonight, had never been down let alone stopped like he was by Trinidad. Trinidad came out of a two year retirement to Walk the Walk with Mayorga. Felix could have fought anyone for his comeback with less skill and reputation and no one would have thought any less of him but instead he jumped in with Mayorga who is at the top of his game. After three knockdowns in the 8th round referee Steve Smoger stopped bout at 2 minutes, 39 seconds. WHAT A FIGHT!!!!

Ray,
I have to disagree with you on this one. First, Mayorga has been KO'd before. He got whacked in the 6th round of his first pro bout in 93. He was a "mark" by King and Trinidad who knew Mayorga was not in the same league with even a ring rusty Tito. Corey Spinks had already boxed circles around the brickthrowing Nicaraguan. Mayorga's claim to fame is that he had Vernon Forest's number, much the same as Forest has Shane Mosely's number. In his last outing he came in way overweight and his original opponent, upset about the situation and the Mayorga camp's unwillingness to adjust the purse to compensate, walked out on the fight. Mayorga fought a last second replacement who made it through all ten frames with Mayorga and looked pretty good in doing so. Mayorga, who announced his retirement a couple of days ago, peaked in his first fight with Forest. I look forward to seeing you in November, Ray.
Best Regards,
William
