Attn: Irish Guts!!!

Irish Guts,

You manage or train Thomas Longacre, correct? Jeremy Harminson wants a rematch with him!! Remember, the guy who had a pulled groin during their fight and you complained about people saying the groin pull slowed him down? Well, Jeremy wants to fight him again!!

I am putting on a show March 3rd in Des Moines Iowa, what do ya say? Step up and back up your b.s.

My email: pete@teamroundkick.com

Great to see another promoter step up and try to get some big fights going!

Re: Attn: Irish Guts!!!

Yep, that's right P.J. I am stepping up and hopefully making this one happen! Irish Guts has not posted on here since May of this year. If anyone reading this knows how to reach him, PLEASE let me know, as he is not accepting emails through this forum. He stated in one post regarding the first fight with Harminson that he would gladly accept a rematch to "shut up everyone and prove Longacre is the better fighter". Well....step up boys!!

I spoke to Harminson this past weekend and he stated he really wants the rematch. Harminson fought his MMA Debut saturday night in Peoria and destroyed his opponent. He looked totally focused like he normally does.

This event March 3rd will be IKF sanctioned as well. I plan to have Marshall Blevins on the card also. He fought his Muay Thai Pro debut Friday in Rockford and TKO'd his opponent in the 3rd round. Marshall looked great..training hard pays off!

C'mon Irish Guts...hop on the board and let's get this going!!!

Over 100 reads on this thread and NO ONE knows Longacre or Irish Guts?? Surely someone on here knows how to reach them. Please, hop on and tell me. Thank You!

Re: Attn: Irish Guts!!!

Duh!! Nevermind, I finally got smart enough to browse the rankings and whaddaya know....there he was! Dale Cook is his trainer.

Re: Attn: Irish Guts!!!

I have a call in to Dale "Apollo" Cook now, awaiting his response. I will talk with the IKF later this morning (when they wake up, lol) and set up a title defense hopefully for Harminson's full mt rules U.S. title. I have spoken to both Jeremy Harminson and his trainer Ryan Blackorby. This could be an awesome title fight, let's hope the Longacre camp back up their boy and bring it on!

Re: Attn: Irish Guts!!!

Pete P,

Glad to see you found Dale. He is the man you need to talk too. I was merely Thomas' strength and conditioning coach for about 6 months last year. Hope you all got the details worked out. A rematch is deffinitly in order. It was unfortunate that the last meeting ended the way it did.

Yes I did, thank you. It is set up just as a normal rematch, no title defense, 3-3 minute rounds of modified Muay Thai. I am forwarding the contracts to Mr. Cook tonight. It is going to be a good fight.

Hey..... Just a quick question. What weight are these two supposed to fight at? Last WCL event Longacre fought at 147. Quite a drop for Harminson if I remember right.

The weight class for this bout is 147.1 to 153. Harminson has been staying 150 for quite some time now, and fought an MMA match at that weight too. So they are the same. But right now, we are having some disagreements on the rule style and length of rounds, so it may or may not happen.

bigjack 02-10-2007 01:46 PM

Re: Attn: Irish Guts!!!

sorry I can't help it...you're right the WCL isn't the place for the big ol slow, dumb, can't move, no footwork, rockum - sockem robots that nobody wants to watch any more...

Serious note kickboxing isn't going to make it, it hasn't and won't overtake any of the other combat sports and is not going to. I thought the old PKA would have made it but it hasn't. Pointfighting is fast pased but since Naska took over the pointfighing world and watered down the sport to the point that many of the pointfighters can't stomach it anymore. it's not going to make it either. Carnahan, Charlie Lee and the boys have turned it into a rec sport for the most part and unless it returns to being more of a contact sport, will remain there.

"In the Day" tournamet fighting was the training grounds for full contact kickboxing you had speed, movement, power esp, in relation to other combat sports. That is no onger the case

The WCL has re-introduced fast paced full contact martial arts into public arena. Which is the only shot a developing a sport that the eleite can make any real money.

The MMA is great but it ends up, most ot the time, on the mat with a tap out. Even in the MMA world it's the "Iceman's" sudden blows and KO's that brings the crowd to their feet . Something that is and will continue to be commond place in the WCL...especially if they keep feeding us Princes elite list. Pointfighters have needed some shark bait to prove our atheletes are some of the best atheletes out there. :D

Re: Attn: Irish Guts!!!

OK Flippin' STOP ALREADY!! Yes I am yelling Prince....Big Jack and Prince, this thread has absolutely NOTHING to do with point fighting vs. kickboxing, period!! So unless your comments pertain to Harminson and Longacre...STAY OFF THIS THREAD. Thank you!

bigjack 02-10-2007 05:02 PM

Re: Attn: Irish Guts!!!

lol Ok OK I've only seen longacre twice I thought he would have given conner's a better go of it. I don't know him well enough to know wether conners caught him off guard and he didn't recover. ..Are there any vids of these guys on the net or You tube or something like that

Pete P 02-10-2007 05:13 PM

Re: Attn: Irish Guts!!!

That's better, thank you! I don't know if there is any footage on them or not. I could not find any on youtube. The first time they fought, longacre won, Harminson pulled his groin, or ripped it, or something during the fight, so there was controversy over the win. Then Randy Pogue fought Longacre (in wcl I think), and already had a rib injury I think and took a knee hard...Longacre won. Again, some controversy on that one too on the forums here. So, I am trying to host a rematch between Harminson and Longacre, but we are now not agreeing on the rules style and round length, so time will tell if it happens or not. From everything I hear Longacre is a very good fighter, from everything I have seen (and I used to train with him) Harminson is a dynamite fighter. So if it happens , it will be an awesome rematch.

bigjack 02-10-2007 05:26 PM

Re: Attn: Irish Guts!!!

is there much money in these type of fights or is it a pride and honnor type of thing. where would the rematch be? Since I'm over here on this board from time to time I'd like to see some of these guys. What are the venues like. Longacre looks tough I just dont know given he wasn't able to handle conners attack mode.

The length and number of rounds issue is kind of crazy!! Why isn't there a standard set on all pro fights? These guys aren't amateurs, so why not fight at least five, three minute rounds? You don't see pro boxing with three, two minute rounds, that sounds more like a shoot out instead of a "skilled fight". I can understand fewer and shorter rounds for amateurs, but not pro's!!

irishguts 02-11-2007 10:01 PM

Re: Attn: Irish Guts!!!

I see your point about the round length and number. But IMHO if this is an exhibition match who cares about the fight being a standard length. Put some titles on the line and make this a defence and then lets get some standard rounds and minutes.

I just talked to jeremy and he said a title defense was offered but declined. He said the offer still stands for a title defense with full rules and 5 three minute rounds. Lets see it!!!

Pete P 02-13-2007 03:49 PM

Re: Attn: Irish Guts!!!

The fight is ON! 3X3 K-1 rules.

Chad, can you call me? 712-792-8178 or 712-304-0457. Jeremy said you want tickets and bring a bus up, let me know what's up please.

c. harminson 02-19-2007 04:32 PM

Re: Attn: Irish Guts!!!

Pete did you get my message concerning the tickets (table)? Let me know if it is still available? I'm not sure how many I'm bringing, I should know more by the end of the week. Thanks, Chad

Pete P 02-19-2007 06:59 PM

Re: Attn: Irish Guts!!!

Chad, I guess you have not talked to Jeremy yet, huh? We had it set and then by the time it got finalized with both camps agreeing on rules, etc..the airline tickets for Apollo and Thomas were waaaaay too high. It was going to cost us waaaaay too much to get it done considering neither fighter is local so neither will bring in many fans to justify the high cost. Pam contacted Jeremy last week and told him. We then tried to see about having the fight in decatur in the near future, but that will not work either. Apollo said if we dont do it here on March 3rd or at his place in April, then it wont happen because june through the end of the year Thomas is contracted with WCL, and according to Apollo, the purse for Thomas will be extremely high in the near future, much too high for our shows anyway. Pam and I both feel bad that we are not able to make it happen, but it just is not working out. If we could match Jeremy with someone local here we would, but no one around is even close to his experience, so I am kinda stuck. We tried hard to get it set up, but it just took too long and then the travel became too high. So, unless something comes up this week yet, it won't happen, but keep your fingers crossed. I will know finally by the end of the week.

Yeah, I hadn't talked to him in a couple of days, that sucks!! Like P.J. said nice effort though. Looks like your still going to have a nice fight card though. Good luck with the show and thanks for trying....

"the purse for thomas in the near future being extremely high" is an interesting quote to say the least!!!!

I was just reading on okfightnews.com forums and noted Dale Apollo Cook posted:

CHUCK NORRIS' WORLD COMBAT LEAGUE SUPERSTAR THOMAS "THUNDERKICK" LONGACRE WILL REMATCH IKF CHAMPION JEREMY "LIONHEART" HARMINSON IN A K-1 BOUT.

Re: Attn: Irish Guts!!!

I am not suprised. Seems like there is alot of advertising without actual confirmation that happens around here.

Anyway, I really do hope these two fighters get their chance to re-match. I believe it will be a great fight.
