The final is tonight or next week on the Versus Channel. I have watched this show from the beginning. Did this series show the world the excitement and non-stop action to bring Muay Thai to the top? Or did it show why this form of kickboxing will never be mainstream? I enjoyed watching the training and the human stories behind these athletes. But once the fighting started, I was bored stiff! Non-stop clinching, wrestling and terrible hands. I was really excited when the show debuted. A 15 year old boy with no Martial Arts training asked me yesterday if I saw the show. I asked him if he saw it and what he thought. He said he saw it but did not like the fighting. "All they did was hold each other. The fights weren't that good!". His words not mine...........

I watched a couple of the early episodes. I noticed that, with one exception, very few punches were thrown by any of the fighters. I did enjoy watching the techniques of the better fighters. The worst thing was that, at least in most of the early fights, one fighter was clearly superior to the other. Perhaps the later fights were more closely contested.

Stalking and one kick or punch at a time. Very few actual effective combinations. The only time a fighter threw a barrage of punches/kicks was when they were losing and threw out of desperation
