Default Kickboxing is DEAD and other ramblings

Long time no post, so I thought I better add something constructive to the best sport in the world.

1. What does the IKF do for Pros? Who cares. It should be what should the IKF do for kickboxing? If anything. Is it even up to the IKF? You decide.

2. Kickboxing (FCR) is DEAD except for Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Virginia, NY and Canada. And I am not sure NY should be in the list.
So, this is where you focus your FCR efforts. PROMOTERS...pool your resources and focus here. Bam's idea of promoting out of his home state of California is a great idea. Do it where you have gyms and fighters. I am sure some of the promoters would love extra cash/promotional help to have big fights.
3. PRODUCT- You NEED to have the fights professionally taped. NEED NEED NEED. If there is even a chance of TV, you need a good product. You don't go to someone and say...hey give me money I will put on a tv show for you. Sorry, you need to show them something that is quality. How many GREAT fights have you seen and there is no one filming except for small cameras. This should be part of the budget for promotion. Maybe the IKF can flip for the bill and have rights to it. Or split the cost and split the rights to it. It needs to be done.

4. Judging: Ok this is a side note, but when Chris Cichon won his world title, he dropped the guy with a Beautiful spin back kick (turn side kick..however you want to call lit) Bam, who is one of the best, if not the best in the business gives a standing 8 count. The Judges have it 50/45 on all cards. Chris won every round in a great fight with a tough opponent, but I am confused by the score. Someone help me. Am i counting wrong or was the score screwed up? Again, no offense to the Judges as they have a tough job, but...really? 50/45..really?

5. Peyton vs Jardine: I am so pumped for this fight. Mike Lind puts on a great show and is truly the nicest guy in kickboxing. Picture him as the anti Jon Lewis...just kidding Jon.

6. Rounds should be 5X3 minute rounds. I personally like 12X2 But I also am a pragmatist (I'll explain later to you Pogue what that means) and we have to keep it exciting.

7. Lose the pants and foot gear. Again, I like pants, but it is time for change and it will be more accessible for TV. Don't worry, it will be ok.

8. Co-promote with MMA and fight in a Cage. Why not?

9. Brian Schwartz vs Randy Pogue- Should have happened 5 to 8 years ago..sigh... They still are fighting and would be an awesome fight. Can Pogue get past the Schwartz's leg, if he does can Brian get punched in the face and stay focused?

10. WEBSITE CHANGE- The IKF has done more for Kickboxing in the US than anyone in the last decade. It is time for a reboot of the website. I want to see links to fights, interviews, etc.

11. PRO CARD at the classic. For the love of all that is good, I have been saying this for years. You have the built in audience, Judges, ring, etc. It makes sense. If it is ever held in Minneapolis, you know right away there will be a built in crowd PAYING to get in to watch a great headline fight. Even put an MMA fight on and get a lot of people involved in the event.

I could write more, but I think that is enough. I will try to keep it shorter next time.

Oh, I hope Wonderboy's recovery is going well. I miss seeing him in action. He is a star and hopefully will be fighting again.

see ya
Jason

FC/IR/MT/Low-Kick with knees/Low-Kick without knees/MT with knees and elbows/MT with knees but no elbows...our once GREAT sport has been watered down into so many "disciplines" that the public is left scratching their heads and muttering WTF!!!!!!!!!
WE NEED ONE SPORT/ ONE STYLE. Can you imagine if the UFC had 6 different versions of their sport? My 2-cents.........

I agree with Curtis on one style, I am not sure what exactly rules etc., but there should be one style.

I don't think there should be "one style", but definitely less.

Full Contact Rules Kickboxing (Above the waist)
Low Kick/International Rules Kickboxing (Low kicks)
Muay Thai Rules (Knees and elbows)
Sanshou Rules (Takedowns/throws)

None of this MT with knees, Low Kick with elbows, ect like Curtis said.

Just the set styles, no changes.

MY two cents:
Lose all of the BS titles! State Champion, Regional Champion, USA champion, Intercon Champion, World Champion. And, probably others I forgot to mention but, everyone gets the point. OR, keep all the various titles and add City Champion, High school Champion, and maybe even Gym Champion. <--- just a joke JASON.

Gid rid of Titles? World Titles too Jonny? You been studying too hard and working when you are supposed to be getting some sleep? Why don't we get rid of the superbowl in the NFL too! I mean, honestly, what Professional football player want's to win a ring and be called the world champions? And it's not like it's the most viewed event of the year or anything. Even if we're not on this kind of a scale it still proves a point that we are all wanting to be at the top. Yes, I believe there are too many small titles. Consolidate titles, Make each Div. have one World Title. Come on Jon, Get rid of the world titles? really? Are we both gonna put our titles in a trash can and burn them like they burned bra's like in the 70's?? You first champ! lol Good Ideas Jason! And I don't think we are beating a dead horse, it takes ideas and thoughts to fix or improve on the sport we all want to be better and more well known.

Hey Jon, wanna do a bout with me? I think the North Branch Title is vacant! Let's do it! lol

Heater! The post was to show how many titles there are out there! Not to get rid of the World Titles, Intercon Titles or, National Titles. Just State titles, regional titles etc... These titles are the BS titles.

Hope this clears things up for you. I don't know about the North Branch Title. Do I have to be from North Branch? How many rounds? What are the rules? Can I bring a friend? Some feedback here would be good. <--- just a joke Jason.

Ahhh then we agree with the small titles... I read world titles on your post so I thought you had gone mental or something! As far as bringing a friend to our NB title, the venue only holds 12 people so I'm gonna have to say no! The fire marshall would have a cow!
Another note, One style would be the best. PKA's style. They would most likely have a foundation out there still.
