Default Carroll's RoundKick Rumble Results

oh my gosh, what a loooooooooooooong night!!! 4 hours is toooooooo long even if the fights are good!

you know how usually you have a few fights that don't go through at the last minute?? we didn't! well, with the exception of the ones that dropped out in the middle of the week, the bout line up stayed the same til we trimmed it down ourselves after the fights started!

I am anxious to read Terri Storms write up, she always does a super job!!
To answer the main question, "Who won?" here are the results of our event last night.

Tien Nguyen (Team RoundKick) vs. Michael Blake (Team Singto)--- Michael's experience showed on this bout. Tien is ready to train even harder, so we will see these two go at it again, I'm sure.

Naomi Ferguson (Team RoundKick) vs. Kayla Carpenter (Team Singto)--- Kayla was declared the winner with a split decision. We were a little concerned on this one, Naomi had only been back in the gym for 2 weeks after doctor ordered rest from a case of mono. She was determined to fight though because she knows all about committing to a fight.

Haley Rothmeyer (Team RoundKick) vs. Maryann Flury (Team Singto)--- In an unanimous decision, Haley took this match!! She had lost to Maryann twice in the past, and was very determined to not let it happen again on this match!

Tim Gorham (Team Doyle) vs. Andy Brandl (Team Singto)---Tim got the decision in a rematch of these two fighters. It was an action packed fight!

Charmaine Tweet (Team Roufus) vs. Regina English (Team Doyle)--- Charmaines knees proved too much for Regina. Regina gets a lot of credit in this match for her heart, she took some really hard knees right off in the first round but finished all 3 rounds.

J.T. Miller (Team RoundKick) vs. Jaden Veach (Team Singto)--- Jaden came out the winner again in this rematch of the two junior fighters.

Jayme Brower (Team RoundKick) Vs. Austin Thomas (Team Singto)--These two fighters have matched up twice before with Austin winning, however, "third times a charm" for Jayme in this fight. Jayme (like his teammate Haley did) decided it wasn't happening a third time.

Derek Webber (Team RoundKick) vs. Luke Lessei (Team Singto)-- the crowd enjoyed the energy and spunk of Derek in this match. I think he showed the most energy of all the fighters all night, literally running circles around Luke, however, Luke's techique and training was obvious in this match. Luke won by unanimous decision, but these two fighters will definitely be seeing alot of each other!! (They finally both have someone under 60#!!!)

Andy Uhlenkamp (Team RoundKick) vs. Jason Skowl (Team Decatur)--Andy gets to add a win to his record!! What a bloodbath this one was!! Sorry Terri and the ringside crew for the mess! Andy delivered an uppercut followed by several straight shots to Jason's nose. Andy and Jason were both covered by the time this match was over. Looking at Jason afterwards, I would say it was possibly broken.

Allie Oudthone (Team Prathet) vs. Mariah Betts (Team Singto)-- Mariah was declared the winner on this match. I missed the action but heard part of it is being protested, we'll see what happens.

Kyle Weickhardt (Team Roufus) vs. Henry Bierman (Team Singto)-- Duke's fighters have very strong knees and as in Charmaine's fight, they helped Kyle take control of this one.

Dave Muhlbauer (Team RoundKick) vs. David Gotlich (Team Tharp)-- This was another bloodbath!! Dave Muhlbauer just had stitches taken out above his eye that he had gotten compliments of an accidental headbutt from Pete in training, so we were concerned about his eye splitting back open. The cut stayed closed just fine, but his nose received a shot instead! Give the heart to David Gotlich but Dave Muhlbauer's right hand and low leg kicks proved to be too much. Dave won by unanimous decision.

Ann "Annimal" Graff (Team RoundKick) vs. Erica Ousley (Team Prathet)---- this one was an interesting match-------to say the least. Because Erica showed up weighing in at 19# too heavy, they tried to get her weight down, but were unsuccessful, so we agreed to make this one an exhibition match. Ann had the event packed with her fans and they wanted to see her fight!!
Early in the first round, Erica's contact fell out and time was taken to put it back in, but Erica's energy levels were drained and she didn't come back out for the third round much to Ann's frustration. She was telling Pete in the corner that Erica couldn't do that cause she (herself) was NOT done! LOL. She's gonna be fun to have on the team!

Brad Bragg (Team Decatur) vs. Rafael Czaplicki (Team Roufus)-- This one, to me, could have gone either way. I thought it was a close match. Both fighters got in great kicks and punches, But as they say, don't leave it in the judges hands... The judges gave this one to Rafael.

Matt Huffman vs. Chuck Baxter (Team Singto)--- Chuck's opponent backed out at the last minute and Matt quickly stepped in wanting to have a chance in the ring. He's had TKD and boxing training, but Chuck's experience proved to be too much sending Matt to the mat in .51 of the first round.

And what you have all been waiting for................. the IKF Central Region Junior Girl IR Bantam weight Title----
I think MANY were surprised by this one...... Kayla came out strong, connecting with straight punches and spinning back kicks to Lauren's mid section. I could easily see Lauren asking for a rematch soon to this one. Every athlete has an "off" night, and last night was that way for Lauren. I've watched Lauren fight several times and there had to be something not quite right for her last night because she wasn't herself. congratulations to Kayla on her new title.

We also had 3 boxing exhibitions that allowed some of our boxing students to get a taste inside the ring. We shifted some of the other exhibitions to drop a couple and save them for the next event in June/July. Sorry Jared and Kyle!!! Thanks for the super help in the corner Jared!!!

We had a great turn out for our first event and want to thank Dean Lessei and his team and followers for the wonderful attendance on their part!! I think they made up half of the gym! LOL Thanks also to Duke Roufus, Mick Doyle, Dan Tharp, David Oudthone, Brad, Jason, and Matt for coming in to support our event. This was our first event, we learned alot and promise to have an even better event this summer!

Thanks Randy, Geek, Dan, Jeff W, Peter, Deana, Sarah D, Sarah W, Sonya, Jessie, Jamie, Kenny, Ron, Joey, Eric, Jill, and everyone else that helped out and made it run smoother!!!!! What a learning experience! lol

Just want to say the Carroll Iowa event was awesome.
Pete and Pam put on a great first event and I am sure each one will be better.
I was impressed with the fighters and trainers.

It was great seeing and talking to Mr. Lessei and watching his team.
Also I got to meet and talk with Duke Roufus for the first time. He and his team are class acts and great people.

I find it interesting to watch teams and just see the character of their fighters, techniques in the ring etc. Seeing the similarities and differences is interesting. I am going to have to bring pen and paper next time and pick a technique or two a team and then go hang with the team for a weekend and see if I can work on that stuff.
Anyway,
Team Decator,
Team Doyle,
Team Prathet,
Team Tharp,
Team Singto,
Team Roundkick,
Team Roufus,
(sorry if I am missing a team, i am writing on the fly here)
All of you were totally respectable and had great fighters, I look forward to seeing you all fight in the future.

Carroll Iowa rocks,
Pete and Pam Peterson are great people with a great gym and great up and coming promotion.
Congratulations

geek

I want to thank Pete and Pam Peterson for including my team on their first show in Carroll, IA. The sponsoring hotel (Carrollton Inn) was quite nice and very reasonably priced. The show was well run with a few minor glitches. It was a loooooong night. Pete and Pam both went out of their way to make things run smooth. All of my team including our fans were very appreciative. It was nice to see the other teams at the event. I was glad to see Duke Roufus back at an IKF show. Jason "Geek" it was good to see you. I had 11 of my fighters on this show and even though several of them had a poor performance we still had 6 wins. Congrats to David Oudthone's team. Your fighters are improving, keep up the good work. Duke's team as always was impressive. Team Doyle's fighters as always came prepared. As for Pete Peterson's team, they are continually improving and look to have a bright future. I was kept quite busy with my 11 fighters so I didn't get the opportunity to meet all the fighters and coaches. I apologize for that. Mike and Terri Storm along with their staff did an outstanding job officiating the event. I think the Peterson's have sparked an interest in kickboxing in Carroll and I look forward to their next show.

I thought moving away from the midwest to LA was a good idea. Sun & sand, but no kickboxing! I'm begining to regret my decision when I hear of great nights like this.
Congrats on a great show Pete & Pam!

well run event. my fighter is brand new and was a bit overwhelmed competing but it was good for him. btw, Team Tharp sounds horrible. we are Team Rising Phoenix. Hope I have some fighters for the next show. Good to see there is a juniour division going strong. Its the future of the sport.

From now on, we're no longer called Team Sonic Death Monkey. We're on the verge of being called Team Kathleen Turner Overdrive, but tonight, we are Team Barry Jive and the Uptown Five.

Sorry Dan. No offense meant.
