Ok, once again a thread has gone awry. How about this question: What big company will support kickboxing? We need big business sponsors right? Does anyone on here have any connections or know of any possibilities?

Sorry to rock the boat: "Which style are you going to ask the sponsers to support". Because when you offer them 4-5 different styles, and you explain to them that most Kickboxers cannot agree on which style to flourish. Just what do you suppose their answer is gonna be?....Don't jump on me now. Its a valid question. Just my opinion.

It's a waste of time P.J. While you have a good question and are trying to be the "adult" on this board with the new thread, there always has to be some sarcastic child throwing a wrench in it. And that is a valid statement and my opinion.

Budweiser, Miller, Coors have all been involved in sponsoring the contact sports at one point in time....no reason why they cannot come onboard again. Look at all the energy drinks that are competing for the market. Everyone is drinking them. I would think one of them would want to sponsor if they new they would get network coverage AND the athletes were really drinking them. Combat sports INt. is the new division of Ringside, wonder if they would wanna get more involved with the right program? Then, look at the Nascar sponsors, a select few of them as well, but again, they would expect to see a plan for nationwide tv coverage first.

I asked a valid question and got back the typical response I expected.....But if you want sponsership questions answered to get sponsership, Andrew Kloster who has written the message board many times with suggestions and help in getting sponsership (He has been doing just that for many, many years) is the man you should contact and discuss this with. "He has been there, done that" and is willing to help you out. His email should be in the members section......

Curtis, I think it won't work your way. Although it makes sense to have agreement up front, no one wants their style left out in the cold, so there won't be agreement. Like VHS versus Beta, whoever has the clear plan with the marketable product in the right person's ear will get the money. Since no one can agree on one style, I guess it's just a race to see who can come up with a marketable product and get it to market.

I like Randy Pogue's analogy.
We aren't comparing FCR to K-1 like the 8-track to CD, where one is superior in quality, we are saying Beta to vhs, both similar and marketable, it is just a foot race in some aspects. OK, on to the quesion, I think health food companies might be interested, if you use a certain supplement you like, or a weight machine or whatever, maybe see who makes it etc. geek |

Randy. When FC was big in the 80's the PKA promoters were getting some great sponsership. The sport was televised weekly to high ratings and the corporate bigwigs were very eager to jump on the tv train. Corporations are in it for the money. If we have a marketable product that is already being televised on a regular basis, than getting sponsership is a no-brainer.
1. Do we have that? NO. 2. Do we have a universally recognized style to show them? NO 3. Do we have a network of Promoters ready and willing to showcase the product on a weekly/monthly basis: Maybe or NO The PKA did have a network of promoters and because of ESPN there were plenty of new promoters willing to stage an event to get it televised. **Whether you agree with what I say is not important. But you guys who brought this question up first should talk to "Drew" Andrew Kloster. He will give you the dirt on getting Corporate Sponsership..... |

Yea, I have spoken with Drew and he DOES have some good ideas and I will be working with him on it pretty soon.
We do have a product currently and regularly televised and that is K-1. Granted it is PPV and only every quartet or so, but still regular and televised. But, yes, something needs to be more regular and on a normal network. I remember when FC was big and PKA was big, but what really happened, I mean really, not someone's biased opinion, to cause the downfall. I remember when Rick Roufus, Dennis Alexio, and others were fighting regularly and then nothing. I also remember Rick telling me once that he fought for now less than $100,000. If that were true, then yea, they were getting paid great and had great sponsors and marketing. Some of you said we introduced too many styles and that caused the downfall. But I don't think that is true.
