IKF AMATEUR WORLD TITLE
Tops The Headlines For Big Weekend Of
IKF & ISCF Action!

5 IKF Kickboxing Events & 6 ISCF MMA Events

Larson & Snell
Seek The
ULTIMATE IKF AMATEUR PRIZE!
AN IKF AMATEUR WORLD TITLE
Camp Verde, Arizona, USA

IKF Arizona, USA
Early Friday morning, IKF co-founders Dan Stell & Steve Fossum will travel to Campe Verde Arizona to witness two top amateurs battle for the ULTIMATE in IKF Gold! This Saturday night, April 29th, 2006, the Yavapia Apache Nation will present,

"The Night Of the Warriors On Sacred Grounds"

at the Veterans Memorial Park.

Darren Snell of Calgary Alberta, Canada (14-2/4) will face off against
Clifford Larson of Camp Verde, Arizona USA (11-10/1)

Thinking Larson's 10 losses make him not worthy of the title? Think again! This guy started his career with about 6 of those loses before finding the right trainer. Once there, he has accumulated quite a bit of IKF Gold which includes the 2003 IKF IR USA Tournament Title and last years 2005 IKF IR North American Classic Tournament title. Might as well erase those 10 loses from your mind now...

Darren Snell is no stranger to winning IKF Gold either though. Snell met Larson in the opening round of the 2004 IKF North American Classic where the two had one of the best fights of the tournament. Snell defeated Larson by majority decision on his way to winning his 2004 IKF IR North American Classic Title.

However, throw the numbers out the door come Saturday night! It's one on one under the lights and only one will come out with the Belt, the vacant IKF AMATEUR IR SUPER WELTERWEIGHT WORLD TITLE Belt!

Two other IKF title Bouts will be featured on the card as well. They are both IKF South Mountain Regional titles. they will feature IKF Amateur MTR Light Welterweight David Smith of Las Vegas, Nevada Vs Travis Sherman of Colorado Springs, Colorado and the IKF Amateur IR Welterwieght title between Isreal Rodriquez of Las Cruces, New Mexico Vs Victor Avalos of Tempe, Arizona.

Six Fight For 3 IKF TITLES In
Liverpool, England

Results From April 8th, 2006

Tyler Price

Jimmy Crowe, IKF Europe Press Officer: The world famous Olympia stadium in Liverpool, England was the setting for what promised to be an enthralling night of kickboxing. The show was arranged by the IKF European director Alby Bimpson with officials, Ronnie Green former five times world Thai boxing, Mike Fowles, Leon Kelly and chief judge Jim Bacon. The master of ceremonies Clive Tennant gave the eager crowd a warm welcome and introduced the fighters.

The first fight in the ring was for the IKF Amateur Intercontinental Title. This would match-up 'Bad to the Bone' Tyler Price from North Carolina, USA followed by Kyle Harrison from Kirby Thai, England. After the crowd showed there respect to both athletes the battle commenced.

The fighters rushed to take control of the centre of the ring, a strong left kick from Price sent Harrison flying rearwards towards the canvas. Price kept up the pressure during the early part of the round with relentless punches and some excellent high roundhouse kicks.

Price trapped Harrison in his own corner with a barrage of none stop punches and kicks, with Harrison not defending himself and referee Mick Fowles had no option but to stop the fight in favor of the very talented American Tyler Price.

Price wins the vacant IKF Intercontinental Title and proves to everyone he is a great prospect for future titles.

The next fight was the defense of the IKF British Title held by Mattie Smith from Liverpool Martial Arts Studio. The challenger was Shaun McNabb from Kirby Thai Boxing. Straight from the bell Smith tried to stamp his authority with strong straight jabs and accurate low kicks. McNabb fought back taking the centre of the ring catching Smith with some high level kicks, Smith fought back his way by forcing McNabb into a neutral corner. An excellent round with both fighters giving there all.

McNabb started the second strongly catching Smith with some stinging high shots. A good round for McNabb. The third started with Smith on the attack with all guns blazing. Smith had found his range connecting with almost every punch as McNabb fought back with some good kicking techniques trying to keep Smith at bay. A better round for Smith who was starting to take back control and setting the pace for the fight.

The fourth was much more even as Smith seemed to step of the break, allowing McNabb a chance to advance and connect with some good punches, a strong jab from Smith shocked McNabb near the end of the round but he came to the fight and wasn't about to back down.

As they started the fifth and final round, both fighters touched gloves and Mcnabb went straight on the offensive. He threw three straight kicks in succession, catching Smith. Smith responded forcing McNabb back onto the ropes. Now it was Smith doing all the chasing. Fast double jabs, and a high roundhouse kick caught Smith in the head. He retaliates with strong hooks forcing McNabb into his own corner. The last thirty seconds has them battling none stop with kicks and punches. An excellent fight appreciated by a knowledgeable crowd. The judges make the decision and the winner, and still, IKF British Champion is Mattie Smith from Liverpool.

Top of the bill, the bout everyone has waited for. The quest for the vacant IKF Amateur International Rules World Title. Jamie Gilbert of Merseyside Kickboxing from Liverpool England. Gilbert is the current IKF English, British and European Champion.

His opponent made the journey across the Atlantic from USA. He is Deejay Jones who is trained by Frank Price in North Carolina, America. Price is the 2005 IKF North American Classic Champion and the number 1 world contenders

Before the bout, both national anthems were played as their countries flags were waved in their corners. The referee called both fighters into the center of the ring, they touched gloves and came out fighting.

A world wind start from Jones as he sends Gilbert sprawling to the canvas with a swinging left hook. Gilbert is up quick with a strong body roundhouse kick and is dodged by Jones causing Gilberts legs to be trapped in the ropes, referee splits them up. Gilbert now starts to regain his composure catching the attacking Jones with some strong counter punches. Jones is stunned by a strong left hook and finds himself pinned in his own corner. A powerful front kick from Jones pushes Gilbert to the canvas again. At the bell Gilbert shakes Jones with a strong right cross.

Round two Jones comes out on the offensive. Gilbert weathers the storm and starts to pick off Jones with sharp punches and low kicks. As the round continues Gilbert starts to dominate.

Round three starts more sedate with Jones trying to press forward and Gilbert counting with effective counters. Gilbert continued on the attack with strong low kicks followed by strong hooks and a powerful right cross that forced Jones into his own corner. At this point it seemed to be all Gilbert now as he grows in confidence.

As they met at center ring for the fifth and final round, both fighters shook hands and started the toe to toe action. Gilbert again scores with his counter attacking as he catches Jones with fast low kicks.

Gilbert now doing the chasing kept Jones on his back foot. Gilbert's attack was now relentless as he kept forcing the pace and making Jones miss till the final bell.

The decision was a unanimous win for the new IKF Amateur World Champion, Jamie Gilbert, 50-45, 50-45 and 49-46.

Full respect to the challenger Deejay Jones for putting up such an excellent battle. A well entertained crowd leaves the stadium impressed by the quality of the IKF challenges.

RESULTS FROM Vanguard International Promotions
"THE SHOWDOWN IN D-TOWN"
Durham, North Carolina, USA

IKF North Carolina, USA: IKF Promoter Will Smith and his Vanguard Promotions Team presented their first ever SHOWDOWN IN D-TOWN, IKF Kickboxing and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Championships in the city of Durham North Carolina this past Saturday.

The SHOWDOWN IN D-TOWN gave the sold out crowd of 1,100 plus spectators their moneys worth. There was over 45 action packed kickboxing matches and over 75 arm breaking grappling matches. The Kickboxing bouts were just what the crowd and the city of Durham was looking for. Some good old fashion blood, sweat and knockouts.

From the junior kickboxing matches to the heavyweight bouts, the level of competition and excitement was electrifying! The attitude of fellowship and camaraderie between the competitors, the coaches, and the fans was also a very important element to the success of the event.

It would be impossible to give credit to all of the folks who helped make this event a shinning success. Head officials Mr. Gary Brown and Mr. Lee Brennen impressed everyone with their professionalism and effectiveness as third men in the ring. We also want to thank Mr. Craig Smith for assisting and sharing his great knowledge with the bout bracketing. A special thanks also goes out to Peyton Russell, Becki Halloran, and Lori Burney who stepped up and showed nothing but constant professionalism at the beginning of the show when things started a little rocky. They successfully arranged all the bouts and got the fighters to the ring on time.

Aa very big thank you to IKF Event Representative Mr. Ray Thompson for a job well done. The kickboxing world is truly blessed to have such a knowledgable and dedicated individual as Mr. Thompson. His leadership at the ringside was second to none. " look forward to working with him again in the near future." said Promoter Will Smith. And Will, lets not forget the incredible job you did as well on your first IKF Promotion. We too look forward to many more to come. Look for a more detailed write up on the SHOWDOWN IN D-TOWN with all the bout information later this week.

HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE!

The Godfather Returns!
DeNatale Stops James To Capture IKF World Title!

Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada

It's one thing to win a World Title, but to do in in your home town in front of over 3,500 screaming fight fans makes it all that much more special. Last night in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, Giuseppe "The Godfather" DeNatale made his return to the ring a memorable one. DeNatale (15-3/12) took the Lion out of "The Lion Rampant" Duncan Airlie James. of Glasgow, Scotland (30-15-2/5) to win the vacant Pro IKF Muay Thai Heavyweight World Title.

In round 1, both started slow, looking for the weaknesses of the other, yet neither showed their game plan. In round two, we saw much of the same yet DeNatale started to press the action a little more. Them. after winning 10-9 on all 3 judges scorecards in rounds one and two, DeNatale brought the "Godfather" back to the ring in round three as he shot James down twice in the third round with his fire power. Then, at 1:53 of that third round, DeNatale dropped James for the good in the third and final time forcing referee Al Wichgers to stop the bout, giving DeNatale his long awaited World Title!

DeNatale was lifted off his feet by trainer Duke Roufus and later in a show of respect, by James too. When the World Title belt was placed around his waist DeNatale was given a bottle of champagne in which he shook up and sprayed the crowd in jubilation. Both DeNatale and James' paid a small price though. In round three the two clashed shins so hard they cut each other open drawing blood. The damage of the impact could have easily made a difference for both in round four if DeNatale didn't finish the bout in round 3.

"It just isn't meant to be" said a disappointed Duncan James about his second try at the IKF World Title. James has won 6 World Titles in the top sanctioning bodies, but it has been the IKF title he has not added to his trophy case. James looked much stronger then when we had seen him before. "It just hasn't sunk in yet" said the excited DeNatale.

DeNatale made the most of his time away from the ring. He was more composed and seemed to pick and land the cleaner, more powerful shots. James had plenty of power though, as noted in the shin clash explained above and in catching DeNatale with a hook or two.

This was the second IKF Title DeNatale has won and the second James has lost. James had another shot at the IKF World Title back on August 16th, 1998 in St. Helens, England where he lost to former IKF World Champion Chris Wright. DeNatale's won his other IKF Title on February 10th, 2000, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada by TKO at 1:33 of the 3rd round over Ryan Graham when he landed a head kick on Graham that dropped him. The win gave the "Godfather" the vacant IKF Amateur Canadian Heavyweight Title.

We would also like to give a special congratulations to the promotional effort of Giuseppe DeNatale and his team and a mega congratulations on a job well done by DeNatale's promotional partner and Canada's TOP Boxing Promoter, John Vernaus of "King John Boxing!" Along with the kickboxing and MMA above, Vernaus also featured a full five bout professional boxing card making this the first time ever in Manitoba that all three fighting sports were featured on one event. These two already have tentative plans to do this again later this year on September 23rd, and if so, we hope to again be a part of the action!

We would also like to say "Thank You" to the Manitoba Boxing Commission for all their work and all the event officials for their "Excellent" job on ALL the nights bouts. Together it was clear what hard work and "Teamwork - IKF/ISCF Style" can accomplish!

A Step Ahead For
2007

Usually we have waited to announce the yearly IKF Tournament in the late fall or first of the year it's to be held in.
However, this year we have been getting so much response from cities and hotels that want to host this event, we have decided to move forward with booking our 2007 location.

Already we have received bid packages from:

This is a pretty good start considering we still have many more to come.

A Look At The 2006
IKF WORLD CLASSIC

This years location won the bid from nearly 100 proposals from the USA and Canada. A more important issue for 2007 will be a major airport hub. This was something Orlando had in it's favor the last two years. Many from the Midwest said they may not be able to attend if the Tournament was moved to Orlando, Florida from the Midwest (Where it was for the first 5 years 1999-2003). However, in the end, all but two well known Midwest Teams made the trip. In fact, last year, Illinois won the award for the most fighters attending from one State showing "No matter where the event is, they were not afraid to 'Walk The Walk' with the BEST!"

Hopes are high that the participant record of 240 fighters "Who actually Fought" will be broken in 2006 since this will be the first time the entire world is invited. Several European Teams have already confirmed which include Teams from England, Scotland, Wales, Algeria, Norway, Georgia (The country), Canada and India as of this posting.

The Yearly IKF Tournament is the TRUE "Golden Gloves" of Amateur Kickboxing. For six straight years the numbers in attendance for this event have been more than all the other North American Amateur Kickboxing Tournaments combined. In fact, many say the numbers for the IKF Tournament are even more than other Tournaments in Europe where their events include both Pro and Amateur fighters along with semi contact point karate, forms and breaking competition. The only numbers that count at the IKF Tournament are "REAL AMATEUR KICKBOXERS!" This is what has made it the most prestigious tournament through the years.

However with success comes competition and over the years the IKF Tournament has faced it's share of competition. First was the KICK World Tournament. However after a poor showing in Las Vegas in their inaugural tournament of around 50-60 fighters among other issues, their event has never hosted more than 60-70 competitors. Next was WKA USA which featured mostly fighters from the North East and again, still only hosts around 70-80 fighters. Then came USKBA which tried the theory of the European Organization WAKO. USKBA sanctioned an event that hosted Kickboxing along with Semi Contact Karate and like WKA did last year, MMA.

As many here know, the IKF (Like USA Boxing & Golden Gloves does for their Tournaments) sets the standards (Rules, Requirements & Regulations) as to how the Regional Seeding Tournaments are promoted. Within these guidelines the IKF also sets the standards as to the fees the promoters are to charge for the participating fighters. For the last several years, the fee has remained at $35.00 per fighter. However the IKF is looking at several changes to the Regional Seeding Tournament Program. These changes will help the regionals grow more and offer the fighters more opportunities and hopefully, more tournaments to fight on.

Due to rising costs of the venue and other promotional expenses, IKF Central East Coast Regional Promoter Craig Smith told the IKF he needed to charge $50.00 per fighter at his regional. However, since the regional seeding tournaments are mandatory for fighters to attend, the IKF could not require all fighters within the Central East Coast Region to pay $15 more than everyone else.

Other issues were also a factor. Craig is looking to get married this summer and time was also an issue along with the already mentioned, rising costs of doing the event. After many discussions Smith and his partner Clark Walters decided to pass up doing the IKF Central East Regional for this year.

However there will still be fighters from the East, the West and all over because there is only one place to truly "Walk The Walk with the rest, and come fight the Best!" And that has been the yearly IKF Tournament for the last 6 straight years. For everyone, it's time to focus on those who want to be the BEST come this July in Iowa.

So, will there be an Central East Regional this year and if so, Who's hosting it? More on this below. The Central East this year will face the same issues of travel costs that the the Midwest faced the last two years and the West has always faced. Two years ago nearly every Midwest Team said they would not be able to make the trip all the way to Orlando Florida due to the expenses of travel. However, not only did they do it once, but all but 2 teams made the trip BOTH YEARS! And to add to it,

These Teams went home with the majority of the Titles!

"22" To be Exact!

Simply put, like in any major event, those questioning the location need to ignore Where" it is and come to prove to everyone that they are the BEST Amateur Kickboxers in the World.

As for now, who knows what the numbers will be in Iowa come July 28th, 29th and 30th. However, as in every past year, one thing is for sure. The BEST Amateur Kickboxers will once again "ALL" meet in one place, The US Cellular Center in Cedar Rapids Iowa.

Those who don't show up whether from the West or the East, North or South, are not coming because there's no Mickey Mouse or Donald Duck. Maybe they are not showing up because they don't want to challenge the BEST! Maybe they are afraid to "Walk The Walk" against the BEST! And this year, those "BEST" will be from All Around the World and every one of them will not be making the trip to lose, or to see Iowa. All they care about is that there will be an Arena of their peers, where they can prove to them all "They ARE The BEST In The World! And with being said...This year,

We will see the BEST Fights in The Tournaments History!

Speaking of the "BEST Amateur Kickboxers."
Here are "THE BEST" in North America from last years
2005 IKF Championships

Change Of Leadership
We here at the IKF would like to Thank Craig Smith and Clark Walters for their work in building the Central East IKF Region and hope to see them back in the Regional saddle soon.

As for us, the question now is "Who will be Host the 2006 IKF Central East Regional?" Well, we have 7 people asking to host the Central East Seeding Regional for this year. Three have Promoted IKF Events before, 3 have promoted other organizations events and one has never promoted. All have great qualifications of leadership to help the IKF Central East Region as Smith and Walters have. We hope to make our decision for a 2006 IKF Central East Regional by April 17th. Watch for the news to be announced on this date.
