IKF Amateur Women's MTR (K1 Style) Southern Area Light Welterweight Title
Amy Campbell
(Hastings, England, 6-1, 64.1kg, 5'9", 6-26-87, Phil Eaton 00447727609011)
VS
Lily Priggs - ( Lily Hannah )
(Watford, England, 5-1, 63.6kg, 5'3", 8-15-85, Colin Lewis 00447814708411)
WINNER: Amy Campbell by RSF 1:58 round 1
Lily Priggs receives 30 day medical suspension until 26th May 2014.

The previously unbeaten Priggs arrived in a confident mood for this title clash and wasted no time in taking the fight to Campbell. The action was fast and furious but it quickly became clear that Campbell knew how to use her 6" height advantage as she began to dismantle Priggs. Every shot from both fighters landed and it was just a question of who would fold first. Campbell looked control and stepped up the pace even more as the round drew to a close. After inflicting a count on Priggs it was clear that the Watford girl had had enough. The referee called the fight off and Amy Campbell was declared the new champion.

IKF Amateur Women's FCR Southern Area Light Welterweight Title
*Sarah Worsfold
(*CHAMPION, Romford, England, 4-1, 63.9kg, 5'7", 9-25-90, Paul Green, 00447852 131888)
VS
Jo Hodgkinson
(Christchurch, Bournemouth, 4-3, 63.6kg, 5'10", 4-28-88, Ross Phillips, 00447581467770)

Sarah Worsfold arrived to defend the title that she had previously snatched from Clara Norman. The two losses on Jo Hodgkinson were both to Norman but her form had improved since with 4 wins. This was another contest that was well worthy of the title tag. Worsfold totally dominated the early stages as Hodgkinson struggled to get to grips with the pressure. In fact the first 3 rounds were clear for the champion despite the fact that Hodgkinson began to get to grips with things, displaying great footwork and skills but just not doing enough. By the 4th Worsfold had started to fade and Hodgkinson's fitness saw her dominate with great combinations and work rate. The final round looked to edge towards Hodgkinson with 2 out of 3 judges scoring in her favor. But it wasn't enough and despite a game effort, the title remains with Sarah Worsfold.

Don "The Dragon" Wilson
In
The Martial Arts Kid

The Martial Arts Kid is a spectacular coming of age family action film that is founded in traditional and mixed martial arts. The Martial Arts Kid is going to be a classic coming-of-age movie for the whole family. It features important topics like class struggles, bullying, friendship, loyalty, responsibility, family, community, and even a sweet love story.

The film will be partly shot in beautiful and sunny Florida and will star the greatest ensemble of martial arts legends ever assembled… anywhere… ever! Hot cars! Sunny beaches! Epic battles! Bad guys! And even some bad girls! Not since the FAST AND THE FURIOUS has a movie screen had this much high octane action! Your face will melt from the heat of the battles! This will be the greatest ensemble of real martial artists since ENTER THE DRAGON and FORCE FIVE!

SYNOPSIS
When troubled teen Robbie moves to Cocoa Beach, Florida from Detroit after his grandmother has had enough of his antics, he soon realizes that everywhere he goes there is somebody who doesn't want him to be happy… and in Cocoa Beach, that somebody is Bo Whitelaw, the toughest and most popular guy at the high school.

From the moment Bo gives Robbie a beat-down in front of Rina (the prettiest girl in school), we know Robbie's chances of living in a happy neighborhood are just not realistic. To help Robbie stand a chance of survival in a dangerous teen world, his estranged Aunt Cindy and Uncle Glen (played by action legends Cynthia "Lady Dragon" Rothrock and Don "The Dragon" Wilson) are there to coach and train Robbie. Along the way, Robbie learns defensive skills that will give him a chance to defend himself… But will that be enough to protect himself from Bo in an all-out epic battle? And will Robbie ever be 'the man' in Rina's eyes? Find out when everything comes to a head in a final showdown that pits legends of traditional martial arts against MMA fighters in a battle you will have to see to believe.

WHERE WILL THE MONEY GO?
We have some of the funding, yes. We're not penny pinchers. But to make movie as high quality as it should be we need your extra help. The producers have over 100 years of filmmaking experience between them. Then, utilizing Michael Baumgarten's past filmmaking successes at achieving high production value even on a low budget, Michael will create an on-screen world that gives THE MARTIAL ARTS KID a combination of beauty, American life, and the grittiness of a sometimes dangerous world.

We're also getting mega discounts on the equipment, locations, crew rates, and cast rates - while putting the money on the screen by bringing in some of the biggest names in martial arts! And in the grand scheme, we're literally producing this entire movie for even less than one supporting actor on a hit sitcom gets paid in a week! We're all cutting our rates because we really want to make THE MARTIAL ARTS KID for our fellow martial artists around the world and for the fans of action movies in general!

We want to prove the value of names such as Don 'The Dragon' Wilson and Cynthia 'Lady Dragon' Rothrock and there is a TRUE interest in real martial arts films with a message. But we can't do this without YOUR help!

WHERE WILL WE SHOOT?
Getting out of Los Angeles and filming many of the major exterior locations in Cocoa Beach, Florida is a cinematographer's dream! The vibe of an authentic Florida beach town is unique and offers great production value opportunities! We will feature amazing sunrises, beautiful waters, a local zoo, and all of the local flavor that makes this Florida coast city a tourist destination. FIGHT CHOREOGRAPHY When you want the best, you seek out the best. Our fight scenes will be choreographed by veteran martial artist and stuntman James Lew. James has worked on RUSH HOUR, LETHAL WEAPON 4, THE LAST SAMURAI, INCEPTION, GI JOE: RETALIATION, BATTLESHIP, TROPIC THUNDER, DARK WORLD, SHOWDOWN IN LITTLE TOKYO, and the TV series for THE CROW!

He quickly captured the World Middleweight Championship and retired as the undefeated champion after compiling a record of 23-0. With the urging of his friend Chuck Norris, Wallace has appeared in a number of motion pictures, mostly as the "heavy" in martial arts films. Wallace, a college graduate, continues to give exhibitions and trainings around the world.

Risks and Challenges
THE MARTIAL ARTS KID is a very ambitious project to say the least. The good news is that we have some of the most talented martial artists EVER gracing the screen in our film, so that eliminates a degree of worry right away. We also have a percentage of our funding already secured, but need YOUR help in getting The Martial Arts Kid to the level of production we know it needs and deserves. There's so many man-hours that have went into creating this, that it is just not an option to give up at this point. It is currently the funding that is holding us back and finding money for a movie is hard, especially for a big project like this. We can only hope that you feel as excited about this project as we do and join us to create one of the most epic and visually spectacular martial arts movies you have ever seen.

TIPS FOR THOSE IN FIGHT SPORTS...
Actually... For ANYONE...

7 Habits From Navy SEALs
That Will Make You More Successful

From Businessinsider.com
I learned my best habits and made some of my most dangerous mistakes as a Navy SEAL. Once, when our platoon was preparing for a mission at one of our shooting ranges in Iraq, I had failed to reload one of my pistol mags after the previous night's operation.

Our point man, the best-selling author of No Easy Day (under the pseudonym Mark Owen), discovered my mistake. To this day, I still think about the look of disappointment on his face. The experience drove home the importance of good habits. The term habit generally has a negative connotation, but if you form the right habits that drive you toward success, you can't lose.

To be an effective team member, people usually need to break old habits and develop new ones by letting selfishness fall by the wayside. The SEAL community forces you to break habits that don't positively contribute to mission success. If you can't make that happen, you're done.

I've gotten these habits right, and I've gotten them wrong. But those mistakes of yesterday have forged me into a better leader and team member today.

If you want to be part of an elite team and are going to shed old habits, make sure to keep these!

  1. Be loyal.
Team loyalty in the corporate environment seems to be a dying philosophy. Loyalty to the team starts at the top.
If it's lacking at the senior executive level, how can anyone else in the organization embrace it?
Loyalty is about leading by example, providing your team unconditional support, and never throwing a team member under the bus.

  2. Put others before yourself.
Get up every day and ask yourself what you will do to add value to your team, such as simply offering your assistance with a project.
The challenge is overcoming the fear that your team member might say: "Yes, I really need your help with this project…tonight."

  3. Be reflective.
Reflective people often spend too much time analyzing their actions.
But imagine if you could harness this talent into something highly valuable?
Reflecting on your mistakes, such as mine in Iraq, ensures you never repeat them.

  4. Be obsessively organized.
Some of us innately have this ability, often to a fault, and some have to work at it a bit more. You have to find a process that works for you.
I've known people who will put something on their to-do list after they did it and then cross it off to feel a greater sense of accomplishment!
Whatever your system is, make it work for you.

  5. Assume you don't know enough.
Because you don't. Any effective team member understands that training is never complete.
It's true in the SEAL teams, and it's true in any elite team. Those who assume they know everything should be eliminated.
Those who spend time inside and outside of the workplace developing their knowledge and skills will provide the momentum for their team's forward progress.

  6. Be detail-oriented.
Attention to detail is one of our company's values. Do we get it right all the time?
Of course not. Imagine, though, if all members of a team are obsessed with detail in their delivery?
My lack of attention to detail in the incident in Iraq could have had catastrophic results. Don't ask yourself what you are going to do today to be successful; ask how you are going to do it.

  7. Never get comfortable.
Always push yourself outside of your comfort zone. If you do this continually with every task you take on, that boundary will continue to widen.
This process will ensure that you are continually maximizing your potential, which will positively impact your team.

You may be wondering how you could ever have a relaxed life if you maintain all of these habits. But that's the beauty of it. If you enjoy what you do and form good habits, it all becomes second nature.
Maintain these habits, and encourage your team members to do the same.

Stay Humble, Stay Appreciative

Although she was referring to something different, my wife posted a paragraph on her Facebook Wall that I thought was important for us all. So I not only posted it on my own FB page, but here as well. Great words for us all in anything we do. The paragraph reminds us ALL to Stay Humble, Stay Appreciative and to remember the words of Harry S. Truman who said,
"It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit."

"It is said that it is far more difficult to hold and maintain leadership (liberty) that it is to attain it.
Success is a ruthless competitor for it flatters and nourishes our weaknesses and lulls us into complacency.
We bask in the sunshine of accomplishment and lose the spirit of humility which helps us visualize all the factors which have contributed to our success.
We are apt to forget that we are only one of a team, that in unity there is strength and that we are strong only as long as each unit in our organization functions with precision
."

Are The First Amateur Fighter & Trainer
Suspensions
Going To Be Issued From An Illegal Smoker At Stanford University?

Most likely, No. It's a no answer only because as of this posting, none of those involved (So far) are registered as licensed fighters, trainers or officials with the California State Athletic Commission or the IKF.

This past Friday, April 11th, Stanford Muay Thai hosted an Amateur Muay Thai event at Burnham Pavilion on Stanford University called "Burnham Brawl". So far so good... Until someone found out the event was actually scheduled as an Illegal unsanctioned event.

According to their Facebook Page, this was Stanford Muay Thai's 8th annual kickbooxing tournament, featuring their own club fighters as well as special presentations and performances. Food was to be provided by Bangkok Cuisine and they were also advertising free beer...

There are clips of past "Burnham Brawl's on their website (**kickboxing.stanford.edu) which prove 1: They have been doing this without legal regulation for 8 years now and 2: This was not a "Light or Semi" contact event.
(**) Web address was made private after this discovery by IKF. You can see these bout clips HERE.

For sure none of the Officials were licensed officials, especially the referees. One even had dress shoes or boots on as his hair (Which was down to his belt line - Watch) kept getting in the way of his eyes, as he kept getting in the way of the fighters.

However, somewhere in the room were judges. Not at ringside, where they were suppose to be, but some where since at the end of the bouts, scores were read and a winner was announced.

The event organizers also have video clips of bouts from a lot of past events (excluding 2103 & 2014 which have been removed since the posting of this article) posted on their YouTube page (Stanford Muay Thai) located **HERE.
(**) Web addressed had been changed by user. This link goes to new address.

Checks for the event were written on an account entitled, "Associated Students of Stanford University".

UPDATE: Most of the event videos have been taken down. All that remains is the Stanford Thai Night 2014 - Muay Thai & Epilogue - Click Here whic was basically a pro for their upcoming event.

IKF CALIFORNIA NEWS
INSPECTORS NEEDED
California, USA

Hello to all our California Muay Thai and Kickboxing people.
as many here already know, on March 17th, 2014, the California State Athletic Commission officially delegated to the IKF, International Kickboxing Federation the exclusive authority to regulate Amateur Kickboxing, Muay Thai and San Shou (Ages 8 and Up) in the State of California. With this appointment our plan was to keep the current California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) Inspectors as busy as possible in continuing their work opportunities to work on IKF Sanctioned events in California.

However, and sadly, we have been informed that we can not use any "Current" CSAC "INSPECTORS" because in doing so it would be a conflict of interest. The good thing of course is that we are still allowed to use ANY CSAC Officials such as referees, judges, timekeepers and doctors.

Because of this, the IKF is currently seeking event Event Locker Room Inspectors who want to start working IKF Sanctioned events in California. Depending on your experience you could start as early as this weekend. If you have prior experience with other commissions (State or Sanctioning bodies (ISKA, CAMO, WKA, USMTA, etc. etc) we would love to hear from you. If you are interested in working as a Locker Room Inspector we ask you to e-mail us at main@ikfkickboxing.com and let us know your experience and contact info.

We look forward to hearing from you soon.
