MORE IKF NEWS!
Time To Defend!
IKF Is Making Title Defenses MANDATORY!
For years now, many have asked us why some IKF Champions do not defend their titles. Well, it's a but harder than just telling them to defend it... If you have the time, please read our article that we did some time ago entitled, IKF TITLE DEFENSES & CHALLENGES. The article explains how difficult it can be to organize a title fight as well as organize a title Defense. The IKF is not going to be as drastic as the old WKA where they required a Title holder to defend their title every 6 months. However, we are going to set standard times as to how often a Champion must defend their titles. This is because of several reasons.
Usually after a fighter wins their title, there is no desire by the winning fighter to "Create" an event so that a top ranked contender can come challenge for it. This is the most important issue that has troubled us here. We do not like the idea of "Forcing" any fighter to defend what they have won. However, after careful thought and extended review, we now feel it is our duty and responsibility to keep the title holders as well as the titles themselves active in the sport. There is only one way to accomplish this and this is to make mandatory date lines for title defenses.
Currently the IKF has 7 Pro Full Contact Rules World Champions, 3 Pro International Rules World Champions and 5 Muay Thai Rule World Champions and 7 Pro San Shou World Champions. Holding his title the longest without a defense is IKF Welterweight World Champion Khunpon (Surapon Dechkampu) of Atlanta, Georgia, USA. Khunpon won his title when he defeated John Adams of San Dimas, CA USA by KO at 2:23 of round 1 in Tijuana Mexico on December 15th, 1997. He has yet to ever defend it. The most recent of the Men's Pro World Champions is IKF Pro Muay Thai Rules Heavyweight World Champion Giuseppe DeNatale of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. He won his title when he stopped Duncan Airlie James of Glasgow, Scotland at 1:53 of the third round on April 15th, 2006.
Of them all, only 1 has been active, defending his World Title. Tommy Bach is the current IKF Pro FCR Lightweight World Champion and has defended his title 3 times since winning it by first Round KO over Keith Nesbitt of Steelton, Pennsylvania, USA in Crystal Lake, Illinois, USA on February 1st, 2003. His last defense was on January 20th, 2006 in Crystal Lake, Illinois, USA when he defeated Bobby Campbell of Long Island, New York, USA by unanimous decision, 115-113, 116-112 and 116-113.
Of the remaining current Men's Pro World Champions only IKF Light Cruiserweight FCR Pro World Champion Mike Nevitt of Sycamore, Illinois, USA and IKF Super Heavyweight MTR World Champion Matt Skelton of Bedford, England have defended their titles. Both doing so once.
In the Pro woman's divisions there are overall a total of 5 Woman's World Champions. The one who has held her title the longest is Bantomweight International Rules World Champion Holly Ferneley of Sydney, NSW, Australia. she won her title, the first of "3" different rule styles, when she defeated Lynette Els of Three Rivers, Vereeniging, South Africa by kick KO in round 3 at the Croatian Club in Bankstown, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia on September 24th, 1999. The most recent IKF woman's Pro World Champion is Flyweight Full Contact Rules World Champion Rita Takacs of Hungry when she defeated Bridie Murphy of England by unanimous decision in England on June 3rd, 2006. Not one IKF Woman's World Champion has ever been challenged to defend her world Title.
With all this being said, look for the IKF to start making notices to the current World Champions first followed by all the other IKF Champions! As for the time-lines the IKF will be requiring for defenses, they will be announced here on the IKF News page soon!

IKF
& Hilton!
IKF Kickboxing Announces Huge Deal With
Club Paris!
IKF
Florida, USA: IKF Event
Representative Lee Barden (Left) has been keeping IKF Kickboxing alive in Florida through promotions
with No Xclusions, Inc.
Promoter Thomas Fischer
for some time now with his
"FRIDAY
NIGHT FIGHTS" at the
Plush
Nightclub in Jacksonville, Florida, USA. Fischer's
next IKF Event at
Plush
is this Friday night, October 27th.
As time past, Barden saw the success of the events and when approached by another club, he was presented with an opportunity to expand on his formula. as he did, Barden and IKF President Steve Fossum (Below Left) came to an agreement to expand IKF Kickboxing to other clubs in Florida and beyond.
Last week Barden
and the Fossum confirmed a deal that will bring IKF Kickboxing to Florida on a weekly basis (Excluding
Christmas week) between now and February of 2007. What is exciting about the
deal is that it was done with the first of "MANY" new
Nightclubs called "Club
Paris". For now the events will be called
"Florida Fight Night"
and the first one will be tonight at the first ever
"Club
Paris" in Jacksonville, Florida. Tonights event will
begin at 11:00 PM!
The Clubs are named after the famous and beautiful Paris
Hilton, (Below Left) heiress to the
Hilton Hotel Chain
"We are looking forward to working with Club Paris
and we are also excited about the additional parts of this deal which will be
disclosed soon" Said Fossum. For now, lets just say they
include the IKF working with the
Hilton Hotels around the world.
Hilton
is also the Official Sponsor of the US Olympic Team. More about this
connection later.
Along with Fossum, IKF
Associate Florida Representative Walter Faulkner, Barden and
"Club Paris" owner Fred
Khauuan (Left with Paris) are excited to offer these exciting events
at the Jacksonville "Club
Paris". Barden is currently working on applying
the same fight night formula to the Orlando, Daytona Beach and Miami
"Club
Paris'" over the next few months. However, it gets much
better!
Khauuan plan is to open "Club Paris'" in major markets of Las Vegas, New York and Los Angeles. But they don't plan to stop there. Already in the works are clubs in Atlanta Georgia, Knoxville Tennessee, Charlotte North Carolina, Houston Texas and Boston, Massachusetts.
However it gets even better... Khauuan does not plan to stop his "Club Paris'" at the shores of USA. Clubs will soon open in London England, Barcelona Spain, Rome Italy, San Paulo Brazil, Mexico City Mexico, Istanbul Turkey, Dubai United Arabia, Moscow Russia, Tokyo Japan, Toronto Canada, Paris France, Amsterdam Holland, and Beijing China and yes, the plan is to continue the weekly IKF Kickboxing events at all of them!
The overall plan that Barden,
Khauuan and Fossum hope to accomplish is to have IKF Kickboxing on a weekly basis in "ALL"
the planned "Club
Paris" Nightclubs as well as more IKF Events at Hilton Hotels around the world in places such as
the United
Kingdom with IKF Europe.
If you are an Amateur kickboxer or Trainer of Amateur kickboxers and are interested in fighting in some of these events please contact Mr. Lee Barden at (904) 762-9365 or by e-mail at leebarden@comcast.net

MORE IKF NEWS OF 10-9-06
After An Outstanding Career
MULTI TIME IKF CHAMPION
Jenna Droluk
Says Good-bye...
Those who
attended the IKF Tournaments knew her well. However
today, the "Just" turned 29 (10-2-77) year old Jenna
Droluk of Collegeville, Pennsylvania, USA announced her retirement... or,
she's pretty sure that is. Her exact words were, "I am "officially"
retiring from fighting-- or just getting around to it now. My last fight was in
March, and I'm 99% sure I'm not going to fight again."
Jenna had won the 2003 IKF/TKO USA National Amateur Championship Middleweight Tournament Title when she defeated Bobbie Brown of Lawrenceville, Georgia, USA by TKO at 1:56 of round 2. She fought a hard road to reach the title match the day before where she faced and defeated Julie Keppler of Crystal Lake, Illinois, USA by unanimous decision 30-27 on all 3 judges cards and Amy Beck of Beloit, Wisconsin, USA by unanimous decision 30-26 on all 3 judges cards.
Jenna followed up her USA National title win when she was the only woman to claim a title at the first 2003 IKF North American Amateur Full Contact Rules Tournament in Greenville, South Carolina, USA! Fighting for the Light Middleweight title, this was one of those bouts you were just glad you were not a judge on. Jenna faced a tough and determined Terrie Hicks of Augusta, Georgia, USA. Hicks was the 2003 IKF/TKO USA National Super Welterweight Champion. This bout was a coin toss to many but according to the three judges, the win went to Jenna by split decision, 49-46, 46-49 & 47-49. This was a great bout by two great woman's champions. A bout that many were hoping to see as a rematch.
The following year in 2004, Jenna traveled to Orlando, Florida and won the 2004 IKF Amateur North American Middleweight Title when she defeated Jennifer Thyssen of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, USA by unanimous decision 29-27, 30-26 & 30-26.
The 2005
IKF Amateur North American Tournament
was what many
called "The Year of
Upsets" as several previous years champions met defeat with a surprise.
Jenna was one of them as she lost her quest to defend her North American
Tournament Middleweight Title when she was defeated by Jennifer Fowler
of Sunnyvale, California, USA. However defeating the reigning Champion did not
come easy for Fowler. At the end of 3 rounds the scores were 30-27 Droluk,
29-28 Fowler and 29-29 even which meant a split decision draw. Since
there are no "Draw" finishes at the Tournament, the two fought
a 4th round. Fowler had more left for the added round and defeated by
unanimous decision. It was indeed a shock, but a good win for Fowler.
The bout was so good that IKF
Officials decided to allow both fighters a shot at the vacant IKF Women's Amateur World Title. A rematch of their
dynamic meeting at the
2005
IKF North American Tournament in
Orlando Florida. It would be the first ever IKF
Amateur Women's World title bout. This was indeed the biggest opportunity for
both ladies. However, one would be the Champion and the other would slowly watch
her dream of becoming a World Champion slip away. Jenna travelled across
the country to meet Fowler this time on February 25th, 2006 in
Fairfield, California, USA. On the line was the vacant IKF
Amateur FCR Middleweight World Title.
Be it respect for each other or fear, both came out cautious in round 1, but threw up plenty of kicks. Fowler with 17 to Droluk's 14. However, the kicks were not strong and hard as we had seen in Florida at the NAC Tournament by both ladies the year before. They were just, well, kicks... After round 1, All three judges had Droluk up 10-9. In round 2, Fowler kept up her kick count with 14 while Droluk dropped to 10, but went more with hand combinations. Fowler stayed with her game plan. Kicks and punches, kicks and punches and keep moving forward. Two of the three judges saw the hands of Droluk add the difference and gave the round to Droluk 10-9 while the third gave Fowler's kicks more credit, giving her the round 10-9.
In round 3 Fowler kept to her game plan, staying busy with her kicks, out-kicking Droluk 2-1 overall. Droluk started kicking less and less, and relying more on her boxing skills hoping it would make the difference. At the end of the third the consistency of Fowler begin to take notice to the judges. Two of the three judges gave the round to Fowler and only 1 gave it to Droluk. Round 4 was not a good round for Droluk. She barley made her 6 kicks to Fowler's 12 and once again, Fowler was sticking with her game plan, equal kicks to equal punches. Never once in the entire bout did either have the other in trouble and although we were not the one in the heat of battle in the ring (Which is easy for any writer to say), we never felt that either fighter hurt the other with any of their punches or kicks. Although Droluk tried to be more effective with her hands, the judges just didn't see enough of her punches landing to give her the round. All three judges gave round 4 to Fowler. As round 5 started we were at 39-37 Droluk, 38-38 and 39-37 Fowler. In other words, the title was still in both fighter's reach, and round 5 would make the final decision.
This is the round where we saw Jenna fade, especially in the kicking department. Maybe it was the jet-lag or something else, but the 5th round was a hard one for the multi time Champion. She only threw 8 counted kicks and none had any "Heat" on them. Although Fowler's didn't have a lot of "Heat" on her's either, she scored points with her "19" kicks in the final round. The kicks seemed to impress two of the three judges more as they gave the round to Fowler, 10-9. However the third judge couldn't split them in his mind as he scored them both 10-10. In the end, the vacant IKF Amateur Women's Full Contact Rules Middleweight World Title went to Jennifer Fowler by split decision, 49-46, 48-47 and 49-46.
Still, one bout may be remembered of a fighter, but it surly did not define what Jenna had accomplished as a fighter. Trained by Professional World Champion Kickboxer Randy Pogue, she ended her impressive career with an amateur kickboxing record of 17-4 and an amateur boxing record of 4-1 with 3 KO/TKOs. During her career she won other Kickboxing titles as well with the USKBA and WKA. As of yet we don't know what she has plans for in her future. But if she fights for what she want's outside of the ring like she did in the ring, we feel safe in betting she is going to be an outstanding success in whatever endeavors she puts her mind to. Good Luck in your Future Champ, and keep us posted on the next chapter of your life!
