Captures IKF World Lightweight Title
Natalie "The Queen" Bee (Bournemouth,
Dorset, United Kingdom, 10-2-1) fulfilled her ambition of winning the IKF World Title by stopping the favorite
Zuleyha Turan (Turkey, 27-4/8, 132, 5'8",
MS. Tuelay Turan) in 7 rounds on Absolute Adrenaline "Relentless".
This top of the bill clash was action all the way as both girls started strongly. Turan was not as effective as expected with her punch combinations but she could certainly put it together, whilst Bee stuck with her game plan of high work rate. There was a short feeling out period but for the main part Bee took shots through the middle but gave back a lot of kicks. Turan was warned several times for catching the leg (a habit from her Thai Boxing background) but Bee did not seem phased by it.
By the 4th round Bee was beginning to dominate but Turan's front kick was causing her trouble and throwing her off balance. Turan looked to gas as the fight wore on while Bee got stronger causing the Turk to shake her head as she returned to the corner. Bee stepped it right up in the 6th and punished Turan but the Turkish fighter was still there and kept her shape well. Coming out for the 7th Bee would not be denied. She backed Turan into a corner and unleashed a barrage of punches. Turan turned to avoid the shots and caught a roundhouse kick partially on the ribs but also on the back. She had a short time to recover and came back strongly but Bee was relentless and backed her up again into a corner punching to the body and head. The referee pulled her off and began a count but Turan had had enough. The fight was stopped and Bee was crowned IKF Lightweight Women's FCR World Champion.

battle is all about. The 8 round contest had everything and showed both fighters
at their very best.
Douglas had perfected the art of fighting from the back foot whilst Cornick
pressed forward time and again with relentless aggression. Neither man looked to
be in trouble at any time as both dealt with the onslaughts of their foe with
true professional skills. Cornick would deliver 3 shots and Douglas
would give 4 back, keeping light on his feet to avoid being trapped. Some of the
rounds were very close but you had to edge it to Douglas by the half way
point. The Cornick corner must have felt the same because by round 5 he
had stepped up yet another gear. But Douglas went with it and created a
furious pace at a time when most other fighters would be flagging. By the 7th
Douglas had the measure and was consolidating, sometimes throwing 4 or 5
kicks off the same leg. But Cornick would then back him onto the ropes
and unleash 8 or 9 unanswered shots before Douglas would skilfully move
out of range. At the final bell the whole audience were on their feet applauding
what was possibly the fight of the year.

ENGLAND: Saturday, 22nd September, 2008 was the date A.K.A. England in partnership with Warrington
Kickboxing Studio ( www.warrington-kickboxing.com ) staged the fifth
event of the 2008 season. The venue for this competition was THE PARR HALL,
in Warrington, Cheshire.
This IKF sanctioned amateur kickboxing competition was conducted under the IKF Kickboxing format known as OSR ( Open Scoring Rules ). This is based up to Olympic Style Rules as seen in Olympic Amateur Boxing, and features 'Open Scoring' using electronic score boards. All the striking techniques and methods are allowed as is used in the professional Kickboxing division from Japan, known as K-1 , which allows Kicks, Punches and Knees - with restricted clinch holding. This combination makes for very fast and exciting contests, yet under very safe conditions for the participating athletes.
The OSR rules are proving very popular now - with even more schools in attendance at this event, as more athletes look to compete in a safe competition format. In the week leading up to the event, which had a maximum capacity for 30 bouts ( 60 athletes ) over 110 entries had been submitted by people wishing to compete on the event! Of particular attraction to the OSR format is the 'Outclass' rule, that ensures an athlete is protected form taking too much punishment. This comes into effect through the 'Open Scoring' on the electronic scoreboards, and should an athlete be losing to an opponent by 20 points or more a contest is stopped due to 'Outclass'.
The top of the billing were no fewer than four Championship title defences! Something rarely seen in the Professional ranks, especially as two of them were in fact the second defences by the champions! This competition was organized thanks to the support of the official 2008 sponsor of the A.K.A. England Circuit, one of the worlds leading martial arts equipment suppliers M.A.R. International (www.qualitymartialarts.com). Everyone that was involved in this event would like to thank Mr. Ali, proprietor of M.A.R. International for his support, as well as Steve Fossum, the president of the International Kickboxing Federation. Here are the nights results:

Contact Kickboxing Tournament "

The Junior Light Contact Show in Tuam was a resounding succcess with fighters travelling from as far as Dundalk, Waterford, Clare, Kilkenny, Dublin, Limerick, Cavin, Two Clubs from Galway City and of course Tuam itself. The tournament was to promote the Tuam Black Dragon Kickboxing Club which opened last November and was incidentally the very first Kickboxing Tournament ever held in Tuam but it certainly won't be the last as Chief Coach Pete Foley intends running events there on a regular basis.
The gym is a 3,000 sq. ft. facility and has 4 punch bags, a full boxing ring, threadmill, strider, rower, speed ball and of course 16 pairs of sparring gloves, focus pads, thai pads, kick paddles, kick shields, skipping ropes etc. It looks like the already busy club will be even busier as the Junior show will no doubt attract more members.

The Door Is Wide
Open In Illinois For
AMATEUR
FIGHT SPORTS!
In a conversation today with Mr. Rafael Caro of
the
Illinois
State Professional Athletic Unit (Division of Professional
Regulation, Illinois Dept. of Financial and Professional Regulation) Mr.
Caro informed IKF/ISCF President Steve Fossum that NONE
of the past Illinois Commission rules apply to AMATEUR
Kickboxing or MMA Promoters. The ONLY Amateur fight
sport that has set regulations or need of a required sanctioning body is Amateur
boxing. All Amateur boxing events need to be sanctioned by
USA Boxing
(United States Amateur Boxing Federation, Inc.) or
Golden Gloves
of America.
HOWEVER... This could all change when the State looks back into these rules and regulations sometime in December of this year. At this time, the state legislation will review the rules and regulations again to see if they want to "Re-Ad" the old act that required Amateur MMA and or kickboxing Promoters following certain rules and regulations. these old rules and regulations that no longer apply are:
WHAT Does This Mean? It means Amateur MMA and
Kickboxing Promoters in Illinois are no longer required to notify the State
Commission about their events, no longer need to have their fightcard approved
by the State, no longer need to have their event officials
approved by the State and
can sanction with ANY Sanctioning Body they want to. In fact,
Sanctioning Bodies can now promote their own events in Illinois. This was an
issue that forced the cancelation and move of the 2007 IKF World Classic
from Chicago, Illinois to Orlando, Florida and threatened the cancelation of
another sanctioning bodies national tournament this past August.
If the "Sanctioning body" rule stays as is (where sanctioning bodies are allowed to promote their own events) The IKF and ISCF may once again look into bringing one of their Tournaments to Illinois. Chances are though that both the IKF and ISCF will wait until the legislation review this coming November/December to see if that rule stays. If so, the 2009 ISCF MMA World Classic Tournament may consider an Illinois location.
The 2009 ISCF MMA World Classic Tournament will be held in the Fall of 2009 instead of the Spring, as in the past 2 years. This is because the 2009 IBL Season (International BATTLE League - www.iblfights.com) will be held in the Spring of 2009.
As for the 2009 IKF World Classic, the IKF has 2 more years on their Orlando Tournament contract and it is unknown if they will sign for another 3 years in Orlando. However, it may open the door for yet another IKF Tournament in Illinois in the early spring or late fall of 2009 to satisfy the many loyal IKF Fighters and trainers in the Midwest. This would not be a replacement tournament of the IKF World Classic but instead, be another great tournament sanctioned and promoted by the IKF that will provide another opportunity for fighters to fight for Tournament Title Belts.
To re-cap, the above ONLY applies to an ALL AMATEUR fight event. The State of Illinois STILL oversees ANY and ALL Pro bouts and promotions in the State of Illinois. Last night was a night that brought back some great memories of a sport so many still have great passion for... KICKBOXING! With the rapid growth of Mixed Martial Arts, Kickboxing has found itself taking a back seat throughout America. However, on this night, Promoter Bobby Anderson put together a show that reminded everyone that Kickboxing is a sport of high skill level, endurance and most of all, Excitement! There have been bigger shows, bigger fights, bigger crowds. However, this was never planned to be a Madison Square Garden style event. Anderson made a commitment to keep the sport alive in the Mighty North and has set out on a smooth pace to accomplish just that.
Persistence and consistency will build his shows, not fancy lights and massive fight cards which will eventually add to his events. Just find a great venue like the Mermaid Event Center in Mounds View, Minnesota, USA, make a schedule and stick to it. Just like a technical fighter goes to work in the fight ring, Anderson and his staff have made plans for the long hall... The full 12 rounds and taking each round one at a time. There are plenty of kickboxers around, but the opportunities for them to perform and compete are becoming less and less. All this sport needs is more promoters who can commit to the long haul and simply be consistent like Anderson has... Any takers?
No matter how good the fighters are, without promoters holding events, they will never be able to show the world their talent. Promoters are the most important part of the fight sports and without them, there would be no venue for the IKF or any sanctioning body to sanction, and no stage for fighters to fight on. With this reality, our hat is off to Bobby Anderson and the other kickboxing promoters out there who keep this sport alive. With that being said, lets get to the results of tonights "Mighty North" Action!
As expected, we will begin with the fight everyone wants to know about, the quest for yet another IKF Amateur World title. Top contender Adam McDermid has looked better inside the squared circle before. He even admitted it himself. However, fighting in front of his hometown for the first time and a big time title on the line brought even more pressure on the 26 year old fighter from Mountain Iron, Minnesota USA. Still, even an Adam at 70% is better than many at 100%. So was the case tonight for him against challenger Daniel Brison of Hurricane, West Virginia USA. Brison had some moments, but tonights story was all McDermid. A quick look at the kick count through 5 rounds and you can see where this one went. McDermid threw a total of 83 kicks over the 5 rounds to Brison's 31 winning all 5 rounds in the kick tally, 19-6, 13-6, 16-8, 22-7 and 13-4. In the end, McDermid had won all but 1 round on every judges scorecard in rout to a unanimous decision victory, 50-43, 50-43 and 49-44.
Making the night worse for Brison was when he lost 2 points in the final round from World Class Referee Dan Stell. One for missing the mandatory 6 kicks per round (4) and the other for failing to keep his mouthpiece in which had come out for the 5th time. Brison had some furry moments in round 2 where he looked like he was going to pick it up against McDermid but just could not keep up the pace he needed to. Whether it be a little fatigue from the flight from West Virginia or just not being fully prepared for McDermid's kick attack, tonight just wasn't Brison's night. In the end, we all have a new IKF World Champion as Adam McDermid takes home the IKF Gold in winning the vacant IKF Amateur FCR Cruiserweight World title. Congratulations Adam!
Two other warriors met up for the opportunity of taking home some more IKF Gold. On the line was the vacant IKF Amateur Minnesota State Super Welterweight Title. In the ring was Adam Patneaude of Cambridge Minnesota facing off against Mitch Whiley of Minneapolis, Minnesota and on the team of powerhouse Celler Kickboxing. Although this was no kicking clinic like McDermid put on, the action was still there. However, Patneaude was fighting an uphill battle all 4 rounds, and we really mean, uphill. Whiley stood 5'10" to Patneaude's 5'6" and those 4 inches made a big difference both inside and out. Still, Patneaude put up 31 kicks through the 4 rounds to Whiley's 29, but this fight wasn't won with kicks. It was won on ring generalship, which Whiley managed to control throughout the fight with a smooth serving mixture of both hands and feet. In the end, Whiley became the new IKF Amateur Full Contact Rules Minnesota State Champion with a unanimous decision victory over Patneaude, 40-35, 39-36 and 39-36.

Although the Minnesota Viking football team is off to a slow start this year, IKF Promoter Bobby Anderson is hoping tonights IKF World title event will be the beginning of a major push for more kickboxing in the land of 10,000 lakes!
In a few hours, the IKF will have a new World Champion and Anderson will have started his quest to put kickboxing back on the Minnesota map in a big way! Tonight at the Mermaid Event Center in Mounds View, Minnesota, USA, Bobby Anderson's Warrior Fitness & Fight Promotions will Presents FULL CONTACT KICKBOXING and the MAIN EVENT will be the quest for the vacant IKF Amateur Full Contact Rules Cruiserweight World Title. The number one contender will be 2008 IKF World Classic Tournament Champion - Adam McDermid of Moutain Iron, Minnesota USA. McDermid has an impressive record of 22 wins against 4 losses and 1 draw.
His challenger will be Daniel Brison of Hurricane, West Virginia USA. Brison is trained by IKF Pro World Champion Mike Sheppard and comes to the ring with a record of 7 wins and 1 loss with 5 of his victories coming by KO/TKO. He is the number 4 contender and was awarded the title shot after both number 2 contender Michael Decker of Sewell, New Jersey, USA and number 3 contender David Boles of Dalton, Georgia, USA were unable to take the fight.
McDermid will have plenty of experience in his corner just like Brison. He is trained by Justin Whiley at Iron Range Kickboxing and Mixed Martial Arts and also associated with the collection of Champions at Cellar Kickboxing ( www.cellarkickboxing.com ) in New Brighton, Minnesota. At this years IKF World Classic, Adam first faced off against and defeated Jason Beall of North Augusta, Georgia by an impressive Head kick KO at :45 of round 2. In the Championship bout he met up with number 2 contender Michael Decker and defeated him in an action packed bout by unanimous decision, 30-27, 30-27 & 29-28. He shared the Cellular Kickboxing glory with team-mate Chris Cichon of St. Paul, Minnesota, USA who won his IKF World Classic Title when he defeated England's Justin Whiley by KO at 1:12 of round 1. Cichon is also the IKF US Light Middleweight Champion, a title he won on May 30th, 2008 in Eau Claire, Wisconsin when he defeated Leroy Walters by unanimous decision, 50-43 on all 3 judges cards.
Two years ago at the IKF World Classic, McDermid had lost to number 3 contender David Boles in a hard fought and extremely close bout by majority decision, 28-28, 30-26 & 29-27. What a difference a year made! He was one of the most impressive fighters in the Tournament this year and his head kick KO was the most exciting KO Finish of the Tournament! A rematch with Boles would have been a classic showdown for the two for the ultimate prize in Amateur Kickboxing, the IKF World Title!
However, Adam's moment of glory was not just at last years World Classic. He won the 2006 IKF World Classic Tournament as well. In his first round of action he faced off against Tony Black of Quispamsis, New Brunswick. Canada (14-7/2) and took the win by Split decision, 30-27, 29-28 & 27-30. In the Championship bout he went toe to toe with Nick Reeder of Columbia, Missouri, USA and walked out of the ring with the IKF Title after a Unanimous Decision victory, 30-27, 30-27 & 29-28.
Although Daniel Brison comes to the ring with less experience and far less headlines and IKF Gold then Adam, this alone may be his strength. Since little is known about Brison it makes McDermid's game plan much like he had to prepare for in the IKF Tournaments, where he had no idea who he would face. Brison comes in with a much higher knockout percentage than McDermid with 5 wins by KO/TKO in his 7 bouts compared to Adam's 4 KO/TKO victories in 27 bouts. While Brison will most likely be looking for that big punch that has ended the majority of his bouts, McDermid is most likely to stick to his past business of being a well rounded technician who has shown he can land punches and kicks at will for points on the judges cards. Needless to say, this may prove to be a power vs speed bout and in the end, someone will walk away with the IKF Amateur Cruiserweight World title!
Before the world title bout will be an action packed undercard that will include the quest for the vacant IKF Amateur Full Contact Rules Super Welterweight title between Mitch Whiley (6-1) and Adam Pattenude (5-0).
The night will also
highlight the Pro Kickboxing debut of current IKF
Amateur Heavyweight World Champion T.J. Gibson (Right) of
Hibbing, Minnesota, USA. Gibson who is trained by Tim Runquist
compiled an amateur record of 9 wins and 1 loss with 6 of his wins coming by way
of KO'TKO. He won his IKF Amateur World
title on April 26, 2008 in Loves Park, Illinois, USA when he defeated Roy
Jones (Waterloo, Iowa, USA, 7-2) by Split Decision, 48-47, 47-48,
46-49.
Gibson's bout will be a challenge though when he takes on former KICK Pro World champion Marty "The Wolfman" Lindquist. After holding his title for 3 years Lindquist (26-6 ) fought as a pro kickboxer from 1986 to 2002. He lost his world light heavyweight title in late 1999 to Rashid Lee of Detroit. After kickboxing he went into pro boxing where he built a pro boxing record of 13-7 with 10 wins coming by KO. However, his last bout was a TKO loss back in June of 2006 to Harley Kilfian at the Grand Casino in, Hinckley, Minnesota. He also tried his hand in mixed Martial Arts but stopped after only 2 fights and a 1-1 record.
While Lindquist will be looking to regain some of that past glory for a possible second coming, Gibson hopes to make a big splash into the pro kickboxing ranks with a big win. One thing is for sure, by tonight, we will either have a star reborn or a new star emerge.
Tickets for the event are all General Admission for $30. The
venue only has 500 seats so you need to get to the door early! Doors open at

The Jacksonville crowd was ready for the fights tonight. With July and
August off, everyone was ready to get back to the normal monthly schedule.
Special thanks to coaches James Smiley from Combat Athletix and
Kenny Barry from World Matrial Arts. These coaches continually
bring fighters and spectators and are committed to helping the sport of
kickboxing grow in their hometown. It's great to see coaches from different
schools with such respect. One of most memorable fights of the night was between
Tryone Brisby and Jamie Howard. This fight was action packed
from start to finish. Lots of kicks (which everyone loves to watch) and
combinations. Tryone won by TKO with just 6 seconds left in the 3rd
round.

Perform On Oprah
US Open World Champion Tyler Weaver Jr., who emerged just three years ago as a phenomenon in youth martial arts forms and weapons competition, will appear as a featured guest on the Oprah Winfrey Show on Tuesday, September 9th.

12, holds the current ISKA World Title in the Black Belt Advanced Skills
(Tricks) Demonstration Division, for youth competitors 13 years &
below. He captured the title at the 2008 ISKA World Championships, held
at the US Open in July at Walt Disney World. He is expected to defend
the title next year at the US Open, his last year before graduating up
to the 14-17 year age group.
Tyler previously held the 2006 World Musical Forms and 2007 World Weapons titles. He caught the attention of the show's producers after viewing footage provided by the ISKA and KICKgen.com in response to an inquiry from the show. Clips of his title-winning performance are expected to air on the show as well, with the full recording airing as part of the two-hour ESPN2 special on the US Open scheduled for broadcast on November 26th of this year.
Not bad at all for a young man who, at the age of one, was
diagnosed with Kawasaki disease, a rare illness of unknown cause that strikes
children under five with a high fever and potential cardiovascular damage. "We
were advised to keep Tyler out of strenuous activities as he grew up,"
says Tyler Weaver Sr., "but we knew what martial arts could do
for him, and he just took to it like it was second nature." Not
surprising, since his father is a 25-year practitioner and chief instructor at
the family's martial arts studio in Denver. According to his mother, Stephanie,
the turning point for his interest in competition came in 2003, after seeing
Taylor Lautner win the US Open on ESPN. "After that it
was all he could think about," says Stephanie. "He
wanted to follow the same road Taylor had, so we enrolled him in Mike
Chat's camp at the US Open in 2005. A year later he had his first world
title, and there was no turning back." (Lautner is now a full-time
movie actor, appearing in 2005's Shark Boy and Lava Girl and Cheaper by the
Dozen 2, and 
is cast in this year's
Twilight, based on the book by Stephenie Meyer).
Despite his busy travel schedule for competition, Tyler excels academically as well, studying mathematics at a high school level even though he is only in the seventh grade. So with all this success, how does a 12-year old stay humble? "I just remind myself that though I have the title now, in a year I'll be defending it, and there's always someone just like me working just as hard for it. I have to continue to earn it." Adds his dad Tyler Sr., "He's very disciplined for someone his age, and he knows what kind of effort it takes to be the best. Tyler understands that being a martial arts world champion is a journey, not a destination."

Rivals Attack IKF Website... AGAIN
We don't really need to say who did this because many reading this know from the past who has consistently attacked the IKF website and staff with "Thousands" of SPAM e-mails around IKF World Classic Tournament time to take us out of our zone and waste our time. However, this latest attack which happened around the end of August was even more out of line.
This time our friends of a rival sanctioning body have once again, has gone to great lengths to find a way to hurt the IKF. Today it was verified through IP Address Tracking that an associate with this other sanctioning body actually found a way to get the IKF. Website off the GOOGLE.com search engine. In the past you could type in kickboxing and the IKF site would be among the top 2-5 sites that pop up like it does at other search sites such as yahoo.com or msn.com
The attack also took the IKF site off of the aol.com search engine as well which is associated with GOOGLE.com
Today associates of the IKF spoke to associates with GOOGLE and will also be meeting with their legal department soon to discuss actions to be taken towards these individuals. "It's not just a simple switch to throw to reload a website to a search engine." Said a Google associate. "However we will work as fast as we can to get the site reloaded."
"I always hear things like, the sanctioning bodies need to work together to help grow the sport. But it's actions such as these that keep us apart." Says IKF President Steve Fossum. "While we work hard to further the sport, we are constantly being dragged back like an anchor by these guys and they think it's a funny game. It's sad knowing they are the ones holding our sport back with actions such as this."
