Bob Cohen - PVNN: Sierra Madre Productions in accordance with the IKF and Tecate will host an IKF World Championship Muay Thai fight card at the Plaza De Toros "Las Paloma" Bull Ring in Puerto Vallarta on Friday, April 30th at 7:PM during the Mexican Bicentennial Celebration year.

The headline and Pro IKF World Championship bout will have Puerto Vallarta's Cesar "El Mego" Palomera (Pro: 14-1/8, AM 17-3) will do battle against Mark Deluca (14-7-1) of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA who is the TBA USA Champion.

Deluca won his TBA Super Lightweight World Title on November 8, 2008 when he defeated Raul Llopis by Split Decision.

Palomera is a two IKF Mexican National Champion (Super Lightweight & Welterweight), WBC Lightweight National Champion and is the Professor of the Sityongong Gym in Puerto Vallarta.

Palomera won his IKF Super Lightweight Muay Thai title on October 31st, 2008 in Las Palomas, Mexico when he defeated Jose Francisco Ramos by TKO in the final seconds of the 2nd round as Ramos was unable to fight back.

He won his IKF Pro Muay Thai Welterweight title on March 5th, 2005 in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico when he defeated Gerardo Ramirez of México, D. F. by unanimous decision, 48-47, 48-47 & 50-46.

The two will battle in for the vacant IKF Pro Muay Thai Super Lightweight (62K) World Title.

There is a double title belt undercard as well in the big event. For the IKF Mexican National Championship, two current IKF champions will square off for the vacant IKF Pro Muay Thai Lightweight title (60 Kilo division). Puerto Vallarta's Gregorio "Dragoncito" Gabriel, fighting out of Round Dragon Manzanares Gym and with a pro record of 12-2-1 with 7 KOs will face Luis "La Cobra" Perez of Mexico City.

Gabriel holds the IKF Mexico National Featherweight Title, a title he won on October 31st, 2008 in Las Palomas, Mexico when he defeated Eduardo Santos Moreno by TKO when Moreno could not come out for the 4th round as his right eye had closed and was unable to fight.

Perez holds the IKF Mexico National Super Lightweight Title, a title he won on March 4th, 2009 in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico when he defeated Carlos Solorio of Puerto Vallarta to claim the vacant IKF Title in a very close split decision.

The first title bout of the evening will feature Puerto Vallarta's Hector "El Hierro" Uribe with a record of 14-3-1 with 5 KOs and holder of two national title belts facing Carlos "El Escorpion" Navarro of Guadalajara for the IKF North Coast Lightweight Regional Title. IKF Judge Brooks Masons from Omaha, Nebraska will represent the USA and judge Israel Sanchez from the WBC will also be officials here.

Fossum and Stell will be back in Puerto Vallarta for the first time since the last world title fight was held here. Along with Mason from the United States, one judge will be from Mexico City and one from Puerto Vallarta to keep the scoring as fair as possible.

April 30th is also Kid's day in Mexico and any child under 10 with a paying adult will be allowed in for free.

IKF AUSTRALIA
NEW ZEALAND & SOUTH PACIFIC
IS BACK!

KICKBOXING - MMA - BOXING

Yes that's right! IKF is back in the land "DOWN UNDER" in Australia, New Zealand & the South Pacific for 2010, bringing Professional MuayThai Kickboxing & MMA into the lounge rooms of all Martial Arts enthusiasts. Kru Robert Wilesmith (Right, Thunderlegs Kickboxing Promotions Australia), is back again from a lengthy time away due to other business & sporting commitments.

As the MuayThai Kickboxing and Martial Arts World knows, Kru Robert trained some of the World's best Professional fighters, including former IKF World Bantom & Featherweight Champions ALI "LIGHTNING" HALLAK and HOLLY "WILD-CAT" FERNERLEY. He has also promoted some of the World's biggest shows in Sydney Australia, bringing fighters from around the World to Australia to fight Australia's best under "THUNDERLEGS KICKBOXING & PROMOTIONS AUSTRALIA & NEW ZEALAND". Some of the fighters he has promoted on THUNDERLEGS Events include former WKA, ISKA & IKF World Champions:

Adam Watt, Grant "The Bomber" Barker, Glen "The Bustler" Baragry, John Hallford, Hiriwa TeRangi (NZ), Marcus "Mad Dog" Mangon, Mitch O'Hello (Qld), Shane "Striker" Starr, Nick Tettoris (Vic), Jeff "Duke" Roufus (USA), and Special guests: Don "The Dragon" Wilson (USA), Maurice "Mean Machine" Smith (USA), Sam Soliman (Vic), Dale Westernman (Vic) and Benny "The Jet" Urquidez (USA). Mr. Steve Fossum (IKF World President) has also graced our shores and seen some of the biggest Kickboxing Shows Australia has ever produced in Sydney.

Now based in Brisbane Queensland, Kru Robert is back with a passion to not only involve himself in bringing the IKF to Australia's shores again, but he will also work with IKF Headquarters to Sanction and "Officiate" at the biggest Australian, New Zealand & South Pacific Kickboxing and Muay Thai events held in Australia.

Adding to all the IKF work the new Australia Team will also add in the Mixed Martial Arts branch of the IKF, the ISCF, International Sport Combat Federation - (www.ISCFMMA.com) to sanction Australian MMA shows and his team may end up completing the International Fight Sports' TRIPLE THREAT by adding the new IAB, International Association of Boxing's (www.IABProAmBoxing.com) sanctioning to their mix.

The IAB is International Fight Sports - (IFS, The Parent Company of the IKF, ISCF and other Fight Sport Companies - www.IFightSports.com) newest sanctioning body for Pro and Amateur Boxing which is set to launch later this month. The IAB was formed after several years of evaluating the boxing scene around the United States as well as other parts of the world. IFS associates discovered a vast need for "Organized" Amateur sanctioning and rankings as well as Non Political Pro Sanctioning and rankings. These combinations would eventually end up with the creation of true "Peoples/Sport Champions" rather than Champions made up of boxers who only have the right connections.

Boxers of all levels will be allowed to challenge for any open title with a "Put-Up or Shut-Up" mentality which may eventually see a big named contender fighting a virtually unknown in the ranks, which could, as we have seen in in the IKF, produce a New Champion far better than the well known Champions.

Even though the IAB is still in it's creation stages with loads of web work to do alone, already promoters in North America as well as several others in Europe are aligning their fighters to fight for the new IAB Titles as soon as they are available.

Wilesmith also plans to promote again under the well known banner,

"THUNDERLEGS KICKBOXING & PROMOTIONS"

bringing Thunderlegs finest and the World's best to Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific shores.

He has currently appointed Mr. Grant Barker as part of his IKF Team in Australia. Grant will be the IKF N.S.W. State Representative.

ATTENTION ALL FIGHTERS, TRAINERS & PROMOTERS!
IKF AUSTRALIA, NEW ZEALAND & SOUTH PACIFIC are inviting ALL Promoters, Trainers and Fighters to send all their information (Both male & female) for future promotions in the land "DOWN UNDER". We here at the IKF Australia & N.Z. Headquarters are looking at "reciprocal deals", where we bring fighters down here, and guarantee return fights overseas on your promotions.

  • We are accepting expressions of interest for Representatives in the following States and Regions:

  12. IKF MTR Super Middleweight, 165.1 - 172:
    Jose Mares
and Cory Martinez did not fight.
After being a No Show at weigh-ins on Friday night before the event, claiming car trouble, Martinez assured the event officials he would make it to a pre-weigh-in the day of the event. Clearly this did not happen.

  13. IKF Full Rules Muay Thai
Super Welterweight (147.1-153) West Coast Title

    Quincey Shammon
    (Oakdale, California, USA, 6-1, 143, 5'7", 12-28-90, Tom Theofanopoulos, (510) 676-1248)
defeated Nicholas Balestra (Sacramento, California, USA, 2-1, AMMA: 1-1, 150, 6'2", 9-9-91, Mike Chu, (916) 549-4430) by Knockout when Balestra could not make the 10 count after a strong leg kick by Shammon. Simply put, Shammon was a VERY Impressive fighter that showed Incredible Skills in his angels of attack and mixing of weapons. He seemed to score at will and dropped Balestra in round 3 with a strong right hand. He probably could have done a lot more damage if he didn't keep getting broke up prematurely by the bout referee who for whatever reason would not allow the fighters to fight within the clinch.
Kudos go out to Balestra though for filling in just this week for the bout after Josh Kretschmann was pulled off the card for unknown reasons. Awarding the Championship Belt was IKF Amateur World Champion Jenna Castillo.

  14. IKF Full Rules Muay Thai Light Welterweight (137.1-142) West Coast Title
Roberto Morales (Sacramento, California, USA, 4-1, 140, 5'7", Andy K) defeated Jimmy Machado (Concord, California, USA, 3-3, 140, 5'6", 1-29-86, Dan Black) by TKO when Machado choose not to answer the bell for round 4. This bout never really seemed to be in sync and it wasn't necessarily due to lack of fighter skill. Machado was offered the bout on like Thursday or Friday since featured contender, Tyler Cronen pulled from the card due to a death in his family. To make the weight, Machado had to lose a lot of weight in a very short time and even then, was slightly over the title limit of 142 (144). Due to the circumstances, Morales and his trainer as well as the IKF allowed the 2 lbs to be waived. Sadly for Morales we were not able to truly test or see his true skill. Machado was simply too weak after the rapid / excessive weight loss to offer much of a challenge and because of it, Morales took the title a lot easier than he would have if either Cronen would have fought him or Morales would have had more time to prepare.

IKF World Classic Champion
James Hammortree
Makes His Way To The UFC!

2008 IKF World Classic Heavyweight Champion James Hammortree of Ocala, Florida, USA has been rather busy since winning the 2008 IKF World Classic IR Heavyweight title. Besides working "HARD" on his perfectly toned body that all of us older folks are jealous of, James has been making a name for himself in Pro MMA which he started after winning his IKF Classic Title.

Lets back up a few years first before we get to where he is today. It was the weekend of July 18th, 19th and 20th in Orlando, Florida. James was in the IR Heavyweight division along with 3 other fighters, a perfect 4 man bracket. In his first bout he met and defeated Kyle Kling of Port Orange, Florida, USA by TKO at 1:48 of round 1. In his Championship bout on Sunday he faced off against Mike Moore of Leslie, Georgia, USA and stopped him by KO at :51 of round 1. Nothing like making your mark in kickboxing history as well as in the series of IKF Tournaments in a quick fashion. In all, James did battle in the fight ring a total of 2 minutes and 39 seconds and will forever be known as an IKF World Classic Champion!

James is trained by Chris Hickman at his USA Martial Arts Club on Northeast 36th Avenue in Ocala, Florida. James has a Pro Mixed Martial Arts record of 5-1. At 23 year old, 6' 3", 220 James has been labeled a "Fighting Machine!" He is also a firefighter/EMT with Marion County Fire Rescue. Back in May of 2008 he competed in the Florida Firefighter Games, nicknamed the Firefighter Olympics. There, he won a gold medal in wrestling's heavyweight class. The following month, he competed in the annual Police and Fire Games in Sarasota County, where more than 5,000 competitors representing 200 different agencies competed in more than 45 events. James earned gold medals in folk-style wrestling and submission grappling (Brazilian Jiujitsu). It was right after that when he made his way to Orlando in July for the 10th Annual IKF World Classic Amateur Kickboxing Championship where he won his IKF Amateur Title.

He went pro as a fighter in January 2009 which was mainly in MMA, a road that took him to the Ultimate Fighter Season 11 on Spike TV this year. The fights and episodes were filmed between January and March but the results are kept secret until they air on the show. Last night, they aired the first round. James was in one of the bouts and faced Norman Paraisy, a Pro MMA fighter with the same identical record as James, at 5-1 and same age, 23. Paraisy trains out of Coconut Creek, Florida with the American Top Team. He was born and raised in Paris and is a Brazilian jiu-jitsu artist and says he left France in order to pursue MMA in the U.S. Before his fight with James Paraisy would said, "People say that French people are pretty soft or easy fight, and I can tell you, you're wrong." However, at the end of the fight he didn't represent his countrymen very well as it was clear James was way too much for him so he quit on his stool after the second round. Congratulations on the first round win James.

According to an article about James, he was described as cheerful and easy-going. But when he steps in the ring for competition, it's as if a light switch turns on and he becomes a "Fighting Machine!" His eyes narrow; he grows quiet. He stares down his opponent until the match begins. "You've got to be the dominant fighter," James said. "If you're not punching, then you're being punched. You've got to be fast and powerful." Some firefighters lift weights, run or play softball to stay in shape, but for Hammortree folk-style wrestling, jiu-jitsu and kickboxing offer him discipline, sportsmanship and exercise... Not to mention, plenty of GOLD for his Trophy Case! Good luck in your fight career Champ... you have plenty of fans watching you here from the IKF!
