    IKF AMATEUR FCR
    LIGHT WELTERWEIGHT 5 NATIONS TITLE

Dylan Moran (Waterfords) VS Nigel Parks (Derry)
    • Waterford Kickboxing Association fighter Dylan "The Hitman" Moran received the IKF AM FCR 5 Nations Title by walkover
when Northern Irelands Nigel Parks failed to show up (with no explanation) at promoter Mick Burkes Mayhem In Meath event on 27 April in the Ashbourne House Hotel.

    • Parkes is suspended indefinitely from all IKF Activity.

    • To Add: WKA Northern Ireland is working with the IKF closely on this and has also agreed to suspend Parkes.
This type of behavior is totally unacceptable in this day and age when there are so many different forms of communication available and an example needs to be set.

Yes, over 300 Fighter's names will grace the inside pages once again and will, as always, include each fighters name, city, state, country, weight, height, trainers name and contact numbers. Not only is it a great souvenir for every fighter and their families, but it's also a "Matchmakers DREAM Book!"

Every year, matchmakers and scouts from promotions around the globe attend the IKF World Classic looking for top talent for their events. If they would allow is to, we would love to tell you who has been hidden in the crowd in the past and who plans to be there this year. However, they have always respectfully asked us to keep quiet about who they are and who they represent. What we can say is that this year there will be some big names there representing both Kickboxing/Muay Thai and MMA (Mixed Martial Arts).

The program is a full 8&1/2 X 11 inches in size. Ads very from a business card size ad starting at $50 up to a full page, full color for the back cover and inside back cover. All inside ads are done in black and white but the outside cover pages will be color ads. As of today, the back cover is still available, but we have had 2 sponsors that say they want it.

There will be some other additions to the program as well such as some feature articles and of course, LOADS OF PHOTOS From Past IKF Tournaments!

Over the years, these additional "Champion Awards" have included items such as Champion Hats, Champion Sweatshirts, Champion Jackets, Special Trophy Awards, Autograph Gloves, Champion Certificates, just to name a few. This year will be no different as the IKF already has a LOAD of Awards scheduled to give out to the 2013 IKF World Classic Champions!

See you in Orlando!

"The saying in football is that on any given Sunday any team can win. The champions of our sport will have no easy time at the IKF Championships as the best of the best come to meet the challenge. Fighters rise to the task when faced with great talent and our returning champions surely provide that. Don't hand out the belts quite yet as new talent will certainly emerge and increase the field of fighters to watch. I am positive there will be great fights for all the belts and we will enjoy the best tournament in America. Looking forward to seeing all of you."

SPECIAL GUEST
Don "THE DRAGON" Wilson

"The DRAGON"
Will Be In the House At The
IKF World Classic!

In case you haven't heard yet, Don "The Dragon" Wilson will step back in the ring again this coming September on an IKF Sanctioned event in Turkey. However prior to that we will all get a chance to see him again as the Special Guest at this years IKF World Classic.

Wilson's Professional Kickboxing Record stands at 71 wins, 5 loses and 2 draws with 47 wins coming by the Knockout. He has been regarded as one of the greatest kickboxer of all time. This year, as every year, up and coming Amateur Muay Thai Fighters and Kickboxers will get a chance to rub shoulders with him all weekend long because "The DRAGON" will be "In The House" at this years 2013 IKF World Classic Amateur Championship Tournament! in Orlando, Florida, USA.

During his career Don won a total of 11 World Titles with several Sanctioning bodies that included the IKF, WKA, KICK, ISKA, STAR and the PKO. Never backing down from a challenge, Don has fought champions all around the world, in Hong Kong, Japan, Italy, Canada, Germany, Great Britain, Thailand, Las Vegas and countless other locations.

In 1999 at 45 years of age, (Left) Don stepped back into the ring to fight for the vacant IKF Pro, FCR Cruiserweight World Title on May 15th, 1999 in Lowell, Massachusetts, USA against Dick Kimber for what is still this day, the highest kickboxing purse EVER paid, $150,000.00 and some additional training expenses. Kimber swore to everyone that he'd have the fight over before the fifth round. However when the Dragon unloaded on Kimber in round three, Kimber dropped to the mat and referee Dan Stell counted him out on the floor, a count that went into the round break. Kimber never stood during the count and to this date, Kimber never fought again. It had been over eight years since Don last entered the ring, but his trademark sidekick was stronger than ever. Wilson picked up the IKF Cruiserweight World Title for his efforts and Kimber kept his promise when this one was over in round 3. In 2001, having never been challenged for his title, Wilson Voluntarily Retired it to move down to the Light Heavyweight Division.

Over his career Wilson fought and defeated many Great fighters such as James Warring, Demetrius Edwards, Maurice Smith, Dennis Downey, Dennis Alexio, Branimir Cikatic, Mike Winkeljohn, Herb Thompson, Greg Smith, Muhammed Ashraf Tai, Panya Sornnoi, Pongdienoi Prasobchai, Rob Salazar, and a very controversial Draw against Jean-Yves Theriault which many thought Wilson clearly won.

After his first retirement from the ring, Wilson went on to yet another level of stardom as an action movie star. Movies to his credit include: The Last Sentinel (2007), Soft Target (2006), Sci-Fighter (2004), Stealing Harvard (2002), Redemption (2002), Moving Target (2000), The Capitol Conspiracy (1999), Whatever It Takes (1999), Inferno aka Operation Cobra (1998), Hollywood Safari (1997), Papertrail (1997), Night Hunter (1996), Virtual Combat (1996), Bloodfist VIII: Trained to Kill (1996), Cyber-Tracker 2 (1995), Bloodfist VII: Manhunt (1995), Batman Forever (1995), Ring of Fire 3: Lion Strike (1995), Bloodfist VI: Ground Zero (1995), Terminal Rush (1995), CyberTracker (1994), Red Sun Rising (1994), Bloodfist V: Human Target (1994), Out for Blood (1993), Ring of Fire II: Blood and Steel (1993), Bloodfist IV: Die Trying (1992), Blackbelt (1992), Bloodfist III: Forced to Fight (1992), Ring of Fire (1991), Future Kick (1991), Bloodfist II (1990), Bloodfist (1989) and Say Anything... (1989).

During this time Don married well known Film and Television Makeup artist Kathleen Karridene in 1996. They have three children together; Jonathan, Drayden, and Aubrianna. Over the course of his career Don won 11 world titles in 3 different weight divisions, something no other fighter has accomplished. Here is a list of his 11 World titles and some of his awards.

Ciilin Boyce
Defends IKF All Ireland Featherweight Title
For The Second Time!

Darryl Orr Defends IKF 5 Nations Welterweight Title & Amy Wilson Reclaimed her IKF All Ireland Light Welterweight Title!

IKF Promoter Joe Wilson put on a cracking show in Ramelton Community Centre, Donegal on Saturday 6th of April. The event featured three major IKF Titles bouts. The first title fight was a rematch between former champ and home fighter Amy Wilson who took on the reigning Champion Regina Fanning for the IKF All Ireland Light Welterweight title. Wilson had won the belt back in September 2012 and made a first defence to Regina Fanning in Thurles less than two months later. Fanning won that night but Wilson evened the score in Donegal and took the title back off Fanning after a fast paced and very technical five rounds. The referee commented that it was possibly the cleanness fight he ever reffed as neither fighter had to be broken up once throughout the bout.

Ciilin Boyce was to step up to fight for the IKF 5 Nations Belt but his English opponent suffered a broken toe less than two weeks to the fight night and it was called off. As Boyce is a big draw in the area, all efforts were made to secure a replacement and Boyces camp agreed to defend his Irish Title to Shane Marum from Portlaoise. The fight went the full championship distance of five two minute rounds but failed to excite. Both men seemed to be trying too hard and it resulted in a scrappy affair but in the eyes of the judges, Boyce did enough to retain his title.

The main event featured local hero Darryl Orr making a mandatory first defence of his IKF 5 Nations Welterweight title to teak tough Englishman Dean Petty. As far as main events go, it was a cracking finale to a great nights entertainment. Petty certainly came to fight as he pushed Orr back throughout the bout. However Darryl seemed happy enough to counter attack and chip, away at the old block. When decision time came, it was Darryls hand that was raised and he had successfully defended his crown but Dean Petty can surely hold his head high as he gave it everything and made Darryl work hard for his victory.

Mr. Wilson wishes to thank all the fighters and coaches who made the journey, also to Dr. Maura Grummell and the Red Cross, the management and staff of Ramelton Community Centre, his sponsors, the IKF and anyone who helped make the show such a roaring success.

Here are the nights Results...

Apidej Sit-Hirun Has Left Us...
RIP

September 1st, 1941 - April 4th, 2013

Sadly Apidej passed away after his biggest fight against cancer at 2:AM today.
"He was a legend and he was loved by all that know him"

Famous Muay Thai fighter and Trainer Apidej Sit-Hirun past away earlier today, Thursday, April 4, 2013 after his biggest fight against cancer.

Born Narong Yaenprateep in September 1941, in Samut Songkhram, Thailand, he was best known for his powerful kicks. In one fight, he broke both of Sompong Charoenmuang's arms, and forced the fighter to retire. He was considered the hardest kicker in Muay Thai history. Apidej simultaneously held no less than seven Muay Thai and boxing titles for a period during the 1960s.

Thereafter, he was acclaimed as a national hero and Muay Thai Fighter of the Century by HRH King Bhumibol Adulyadej. After his retirement, Apidej taught as an instructor at the Fairtex school outside Bangkok, Thailand alongside modern champions such as Yodsaenklai Fairtex and Kaew Fairtex.

Apidej had his first formal Muay Thai training with Suporn Wongsaroj and boxed under the name of Apidej Lookpornchai. After only a few bouts, the young boxer became widely known in his home regions, namely ThaChalorm, Mahachai, and Bang Nok Kwaek districts for his violent and powerful kicks. The aspiring Apidej later joined the Sit-Hirun Camp run by Kasem and A-ngoon lampinyo. Despite his flair, some still doubted his potential since he was often unexpectedly defeated. But after rigorous training and firm determination on his part, Apidej successfully polished his tactics and became one of the best known Muay Thai boxer to date.

Of all the Muay Thai boxers of a heavy division, Apidej was the boxer with the most kicks of the past 20 years. It can be said that there has never been a boxer to match his kick ever since.

The name Apidej Sit-Hirun captured the boxing fans' imagination when he impressively kicked his way to victory in the bout against Danchai Yontrakit who was down in the third round. Several other well-known boxers lined up to meet him, in order to be defeated, one after another. He outscored the famous Adul Srisothorn and his kicks almost ruined Sompong Charoenmuang's boxing career by breaking his arms.

As a matter of fact, Apidej defeated all the Muay Thai stars of that time. But his most persistent opponent was none other than Dejrit Itti-anuchit. They took turns winning and losing for as many as 11 times. The second most persistent could be Kongdej Lookbangplasoi who had four memorable matches with Apidej.

A highly exceptional boxer, Apidej was a good boxer in both Muay Thai and international boxing. At one time he held seven Welterweight titles of both Muay Thai and international boxing between 1961 to 1972 with an impressive record of 340 wins, 10 losses and 1 draw. This historic record has never been broken since.

On international level, Apidej's skills won him the championship of the Eastern Region, and, more yet, a world champion contender.

He won the Welterweight Championship of the Rajadamnern Stadium by outscoring Srisawat Sitsorpor. And he took over the Lumpini Stadium championship by defeating Dejrit Itti-anuchit by a technical knock-out. This victory simultaneously made him champion of the Professional Boxers Association of Thailand.

Feeling that he was getting too old to box, Apidej retired after he got married. Even then, he was coaxed back to the ring for a few more bouts with younger boxers. He was defeated, but everyone knew that it was only due to his age

Apidej's impressive kicks are firmly imprinted in the minds of his fans. For whenever one talks of the kick ace in Muay Thai, it is Apidej who will always be number one.

Apidej Sit-Hirun was the Master Trainer at Fairtex Muaythai Fitness in Bangplee, Samutprakarn. He was a trainer at Fairtex for over 30 years, since his retired age of mid 30's. He has trained and produced over 30 world and local champions with fighters from USA, Thailand, Japan, Australia and European countries.

  • His Titles Includes:
    • Lumpinee Muaythai Champion
    • Lumpinee International Style Boxing Champion
    • Rajadamnern Muaythai Champion
    • Rajadamnern/Lumpinee Muaythai Champion
    • Rajadamnern/Lumpinee International Boxing Champion
    • Thailand Muaythai Champion
    • Far East International Style Boxing Champion.

He was also known as "The Man of 7 Titles" - "The Legendary Best Muaythai Kicker of the Century" and "The Best Muaythai Fighter of the Century". Titles awarded by the Authority King of Thailand. Apidej was the first and only legendary Muaythai fighter in Thailand to be recognized and showcased by the Thai National Museum for a "Life Time Achievement" and for making an impact to Thailand's sporting history. An Honorary bronze statue of Apidej is proudly displayed at the Huamark Indoor Stadium, Bangkok, Thailand.

Apidej's funeral ceremony will be held at
Wat Bangple Yai Klang Samutprakarn on Tuesday April 9th.

What Happened To
Dennis "The Terminator" Alexio?

He won the IKF Pro Full Contact Rules Heavyweight World title when he defeated Barrington Patterson of London, England by TKO at the end of the 5th round in Hawaii, USA on May 31st, 1997. He defended the title on May 1st of 1998 at a sold out Sacramento Memorial Auditorium in Sacramento, California, USA. There he defeated Achille Roger of France by TKO at 1:10 of round 5.

Alexio's World Title was retired by the IKF on November 24th, 2003 because the IKF had been trying to contact him since June of 2003 to discuss what his future plans for the sport were, such as a title defense, or a retirement of his title. However they never received any return phone call.

Alexio has had a "BRILLIANT" career and will be remembered as THE BEST Heavyweight and Super Heavyweight "FULL CONTACT RULES" fighter in the world for years to come.

Recently Kevin Dodrill, the host and producer of the Kicking in Zubaz podcast sent us a recent interview (January 2013) with Alexio. Dodrill wrote:
"As you probably know Mr. Alexio has been out of the lime light for quite some time and was very difficult to track down. I figured I'd past this info on to you because I think the interview might be interesting to the readers of your news page. Here are the following links to the interview, feel free to use them:"

Thanks Kevin, and here they are...
