    • This became Marcel Cyprian second IKF California State title. He won the IKF Amateur International California Welterweight title on July 6th, 2013 in Fresno, California, USA when he defeated Andrew Capurro by split decision, 48-47, 49-46 & 47-48. This battle with Ross was actually a rematch of an exciting bout that took place over 2 years ago which Cyprian lost by close decision. This bout didn't disappoint as the battle went back and forth all the way to about 2 seconds left in round 4. It was at that moment Cyprian knocked Ross down at the bell and looking at Ross' eyes closely at ringside, we would not have argued if referee Dan Stell would have stopped the bout right then. However knowing it was a title bout, Stell and the ringside doctor choose to allow him the 1 minute rest after the mandatory 8 count. When the bell rang for round 5 Cyprian went on the hunt and landed several blows that forced Stell to step in before Ross suffered additional damage at :36 seconds into round 5.

Just wanted to drop a few notes on our day before the final deadline.
First, thanks to everyone who have taken the time to register thus far. Your trust and support in this promotions is appreciated. We recognize that many of you might not be familiar with AK Promotions and the type of promotions we have put on in the past and therefore may be a little reluctant in getting involved in the first event here. What we can say is that we give our all to make the event successful, fun and exciting for those who attend!

We try and create future and recognizable champions. In fact, we have done this on many occasions. So again, we are thankful for those that have signed up and are hopeful that others will not just wait and see but dive in and help put Kickboxing back on the map in the Southeast Coast and help take the sport to its deserving magnitude. You can rest assure that the name in our register will be the first contact for future shows and championship opportunities. Thanks in advance for your support! Forward March! J

Remember, after October 10th, there are no more sign-ups for the Full Contact portion of the tournament.

Later this week, we will make every effort to get those registered in single brackets a match. Thanks for your quick responses to our inquires as well as send your suggestions as many of you have already.

Again, for those waiting to the final bell to get those registrations in….Thanks in advance for getting them in ASAP if you plan to compete….If it's not received in by the end of the day October 10th, it will not be accepted. Lets make this first IKF East Coast Classic a good one in hopes for many more to follow. After all, it's not about how many sign-up but the quality of the event and the matches as well as the experience of fighters, trainers, friends and family in attendance. Results are as follows from the IKF Senior Novice All Ireland Championships which were held in the Dungarvan Sports Centre, Dungarvan, Co. Waterford. The event was promoted by IKF Ireland Secretary Mr. Vinny O Brien. A fantastic day was had by all participants. Some of who had up to three fights to win the gold and everyone benefited from the experience. The championships were for novice fighters with no more than five fights experience in any full contact discipline. Because of this everyone was on a reasonably level playing field.

As always, all the fights were refereed and judged by completely neutral officials throughout the weekend who gave up their time freely for the good of the sport. There were no complaints or issues on any decisions and everything ran very smoothly. Big thanks to all the coach's and clubs who had the interest in their fighters to bring them along to "Walk the Walk". Also to the hard working officials (judges, referees, timekeepers etc), medical staff, Dr. Maura Grummell, the management of the Dungarvan Sports Centre, the IKF, the Deise Kickboxing set up crew and administration staff. The crew and staff worked tirelessly all weekend putting up three rings among other things. And of course, to anyone who helped in any way. The fighters were awarded with top class medallions for their efforts and everyone went away happy.

The International Kickboxing Federation (IKF) Ireland and International Boxing Association (IAB) Ireland recently sanctioned their first kickboxing promotion North of the border in the small Fermanagh town of Irvinestown. The event was hosted by Mr. Shane Brimestone, Head Coach at Immortal Fermanagh MMA. The fight card was stacked with several amateur K-1 style bouts as well as several White Collar Boxing bouts. The fights were contested by a number of visiting clubs from across Northern Ireland, including: Rapid Fire MMA, Kcam kickboxing, Dungannon Kickboxing Club and CB Martial Arts.

Mahon's Hotel Ballroom was packed as the fights got underway. The atmosphere was electric all the way through the fight card to the main event. The event representative was Mr. Joe Wilson from Donegal and he was assisted by his team of experienced officials, Mr. Chris Coyle, Mr. Stephen Doherty and Mrs. Amy Wilson. The show was a great success & all fighters returned home safely. IKF/ IAB Ireland looks forward to the next outing up North.
