In an area that appeared to be starving for competition of this nature, 2 X
World Champion, Johnny Davis and the folks at AK
Promotions took a big step by re-introducing Full Contact Muay Thai
and Kickboxing in the form of a regional tournament. In Open and Novice
Divisions to accommodate different skill levels and sanctioned by the International
Kickboxing Federation (IKF), fighters
from South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Georgia, Louisiana,
Florida, Costa Rica and The Bahamas converged on the "South of the
Border Convention Center" in Dillon, South Carolina between October
18th and 20th to get in the ring and do battle. Johnny Davis believes he may have discovered a source for
cultivating future world champions as interest grows in the sport and the East Coast Classic draws bigger and better
competition each year. He may be correct, in fact, more than half of the
competitors in the tournament were making their in-ring kickboxing debut and
many of the fights stilled proved to be main event caliber. The Results Of The Tournament
