"Be Prepared"
"No citizen has a right to be an amateur in the matter of physical training…
what a disgrace it is for a man to grow old without ever seeing the beauty and strength of which his body is capable.
"
Socrates

When one seeks to accomplish a great task, no two words sum up the challenges ahead more than "Be Prepared". It doesn't matter what the task is before you, be it small or giant in size. Every task or goal each of us seek throughout our lives needs to be thought out carefully, planned to every detail and followed through step by step. Sure, there will be a variety of these details that will not go as planned, and when these issues pop up, one needs not look any further than that famous saying from the USMC, "Improvise, Adapt and Overcome!"

The same gam plan goes for all of you coming to Orlando Florida this weekend for the 2015 IKF World Classic. We all know you're "Suppose" to be "Prepared" but the real question you need to ask yourself right now is, "ARE you truly Prepared?"

To help you out, here are a few details you may want to re-check before you depart for registrations and weigh-ins this Friday and of course, the event itself...

YOU May Wear the Belt...
But Your Entire TEAM Wins The TITLE!

Those Of You Who Feel That A Sport Like
Muay Thai or Kickboxing Is An "Individual" Sport...Think Again.

To begin with, There are many of you who have those in the shadows, that although they may not be in the gym with you, they're your strength, your backbone. They're those who hold you up in times of sorrow, and cheer with you in times of Glory. They're your parents, brothers, sisters, spouses and your friends who are always there by your side. However, there are others that see your sweat, your pain, your tears and even your blood if so, first hand. They're the ones you ultimately turn to, to attain your goal here...

As the saying goes...
"Even Michael Jordan needed a coach!"

Your coach or trainer does more than bark physical commands to you. He/She has put in his or her time, most likely for free, to help you, as the fighter, attain the goals and dreams you desire. He/She has molded and crafted your skills, made you "Fight Ready" in preparing you in every possible way for the confrontation to come.

He has made you Battle Hard, a Warrior, a Gladiator ready for the challenges ahead. Together, and I Stress TOGETHER you started your journey, prepared for it in every way possible and TOGETHER you will go to the 'SHOW', enter the ring of greatness and take on he or she who stands before you, TOGETHER.

Although at that moment, your coach will leave the ring, he/she has not left you. They will be there, only a few feet away watching your every move. Reminding you of what you went through to get to this moment. Reminding you of the game plan the two of you crafted TOGETHER. He will not only help you in every step of the way, but he will also be there to protect you, white towel in hand, should you be overcome by your challenger... There is no shame if so, for you and your TEAM have entered this battle TOGETHER.

If it shall be that you lose, you lose "TOGETHER". You move on to fight another day, for this is never the end. Only a spot along your fantastic experience through your journey as a Fighter...

However, if it be that you win... You have all won...TOGETHER. You may wear the belt, but everyone of your detailed TEAM from your parents, brothers, sisters, spouses, friends to ALL your TRAINERS, ALL achieved this title TOGETHER...

Tears may flow, there will be hugs, smiles, but most importantly, make sure there is appreciation. Appreciating to ALL those who have worked WITH you to get you to this point...

The Title belongs to you all, and All of you shall celebrate and share this moment of Glory as a TEAM...

"I am a member of a team, and I rely on the team, I defer to it and sacrifice for it, because the team, not the individual, is the ultimate champion."
Mia Hamm

IKF Point Muay Thai / Kickboxing…
Set and Ready for World Classic 2015, Orlando, Florida, USA!

Summer has arrived and so has the time for the 17th Annual IKF World Kickboxing Classic (July 24th and 26th). This event is one of the most prestigious events for amateur kickboxing in the world and will be held at the beautiful Doubletree Hotel by Hilton in Orlando, Florida! Those who are in the know - know that this event is one that should not be missed especially by those serious about their future as well as adding the words of IKF World Classic Champion to their resume.

The ever-growing IKF Point Muay Thai / Kickboxing Division has been growing in leaps and bounds in the past few years at the World Classic. The more competitors the better the competition…so start making your plans now! As usual, we expect an even bigger group to enter for later registration which is as late as Saturday, July 24th at 4:PM Noon. The competition will start at 6:PM and will be the evening entertainment for the World Classic.

There will be a $5 Non-Competitor Spectator fee.
World Classic Competitors and Trainers are Free.

Men, Women and Children as young as 5 years and as old as 60 years old…can compete… as long as there is someone in their division. The action will be hot but of course as always, the semi contact rule is in full affect and there are NO KNOCKOUTS ALLOWED. There will be divisions in IKF/Point Muay Thai, International Hi Kick and International Low Kick styles and Unified Rules. However, sometimes we have to mix and match to assure everyone coming gets a fair fight. See example on right of gear needed. Headgear (open face with cheek protectors also ok for juniors) 12 oz for kids and 16 oz Boxing gloves for adults are mandatory. Groin protection, shin and instep guards also needed as well as double mouth piece. See more at www.IKFPKB.com

Everyone planning to bring their fighters really needs to know the difference in this competition and what will be going on in the main arena. The semi contact rules must be paramount. If we feel there is too much power you will be warned and, or disqualified immediately depending on the intent or result. However, in saying this, we encourage you to use your speed instead of power and focus on the points and you will have a great time at this event! Moreover, BE IN SHAPE, the 2 – 2 minute rounds with 1 round of Overtime if needed is in effect for this event and there is a good chance you may have more than one bout. We will modify it for the little guys, but be in shape and ready to rock as these rounds seem a lot longer than it sounds on paper.

In addition to semi contact, The IKF World Classic will again have the best divisions of Full Contact bouts with divisions in Muay Thai, International Hi Kick (Full Contact) and International Low Kick styles. Approximately 300 fighters will travel afar to prove one thing…they are the best! Some will come with an illusion of greatness and others will come with a vision for victory but either way, their destiny will need to be decided in the ring! When you get a ton of fighters, trainers and pumped up fans in one room hungry for a fight and hungry for a win…it's going to be a spectacular event!

We look forward to seeing you there! Remember, Register Early and Save! Forward March!

'IKF Muay Thai Kickboxing"
June 26th, 2015 - Atlanta, Georgia, USA

On Saturday, June 26th, 2015, IKF Veteran promoter and South Eastern U.S. IKF Director, Johnny Davis made new history as he brought a full card of kickboxing back to the Capitol City of the Peach State. Under the monikers of AK Promotions and SFG Presents, Davis presented a show at the World Congress Center in Atlanta, Georgia. This show was a part of the World Fitness Expo featuring fitness activities from the entire spectrum from weight lifting to bikini modeling and more.

Davis's efforts are to be celebrated for sure. Georgia Athletic and Entertainment Commission made clear that the IKF was allowed to promote kickboxing cards for adult and junior kickboxers, just as specified in state law, Georgia Official Code 43-4B-2. Then he promoted a card that was reminiscent of the large shows of kickboxing history of the Empire City of the South. Just like those old Professional Karate Association (PKA) shows held in huge venues like the Omni. Where his contemporaries, who are kickboxing legends like Bad Brad Hefton, Rick Roufus, and many others, Davis returned kickboxing on a grand scale. And Grand it was!

Byron, Georgia's own Erica Taylor fired a shot heard around the kickboxing world in the main event. While she lost to Greenville, South Carolina's Anna Crutchfield, her right cross early in the first round let Crutchfield, who won by unanimous decision, and the kickboxing world know that Taylor was in the fight. Sylvester Stallone COULD NOT have told a better fight story if he had had William Shakespeare re-write the entire Rocky series, and hired James Cameron to direct the movie. Taylor stepped up on late notice to support Davis's efforts to have a successful kickboxing show.

Taylor did so after Mary Matia no showed at weigh-in when her trainer informed Davis that she had a leg injury. IKF Chief Ring Official Dan Stell discussed Matia's situation with her trainer at length and was told that Matia had allegedly aggravated an old injury on Tuesday. The curious thing was that the Promoter received social media communication from Matia later in the week (Wednesday night) that everything was good and the fight was a go. He received an e-mail on Thursday afternoon while traveling to the event of a possible injury and did not get official word till Friday around noon that she would not be fighting...the same day of the fight.

With this disappointing news, Davis looked around and saw and found another fighter. Taylor had come to the event to help out. All morning at the weigh-ins, Taylor was running back and forth assisting officials with paperwork and assisting other fighters with meeting their needs. Davis knew that with Taylor's record and tenacity she would make an excellent match for Crutchfield. Davis still had to get bout approval from the IKF. Under the circumstance, and having known about Taylor, the IKF signed off on the match-up and the bout became official.

As the bell sounded to begin the fight, many wondered what Taylor would bring to the ring in such a high profile bout... Then Taylor stepped up and fired "THAT" shot. But that shot alone did not tell the story of this match. The story of this match was Taylor's heart and tenacity and Crutchfield's technique and ring generalship. In the first round, a clash and flurry on both sides saw Taylor receive a standing 8 count delivered by Crutchfield as Crutchfield completely dominated the round and earned a 10-7 on several of the judges' cards.

Undaunted, Taylor even taunted Crutchfield a few times throughout the match. Taylor did score a spinning backfist. However, Crutchfield completely dominated the match throughout. "Compelling," was what Atlanta City Attorney, Martin Clarke had to say after witnessing this main event. Clarke who was there to support his colleague, Tamara Baines, said of the two competitors in the main event, "I have three daughters and it is awesome for them to have heroines like these (Crutchfield and Taylor) to look up to." Clarke continued, "The IKF organization has two real stars (Crutchfield and Taylor) there. They could be on the level of Ronda Rousey in the UFC one day."

On Saturday, June 27th, 2015, Fighter Soul Promotions stepped into the kickboxing arena by featuring an IKF Junior kickboxing bout. The spacious University of Georgia South Campus Conference Center was the venue for IKF kickboxing and State of Georgia sanctioned MMA. The IKF Junior match started the action for the fight fans.

Jonathan Villafranca
Tifton, Georgia
VS
Chase Boutwell
Macon, Georgia

Villafranca closed distance when possible and issued overhands and hooks. Undaunted, Boutwell used his length, height, and footwork to frustrate the hometown pugilist's game plan. Boutwell particularly was effective with his leg kicks to Villafranca's lead leg, causing visible distress. Overall, Boutwell dominated in convincing fashion.
